  1. 1. Metabolic and endocrine effects of SGLT2 inhibition

    Författare :Per Lundkvist; Jan Eriksson; Lars Lind; Maria J Pereira; Michael Alvarsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SGLT2 inhibition; GLP-1 receptor agonism; DPP4 inhibition; NAFLD; prediabetes; type 2 diabetes; obesity; metabolic syndrome; glucagon.; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Obesity and type 2 diabetes (T2D) are two growing global health problems with similar comorbidity profiles. SGLT2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) improve blood glucose control and can relieve both T2D and obesity, as well as their associated health problems such as hypertension, kidney failure, and cardiovascular disease. 2. 2. Modulation of the calcium-force relationship in smooth muscle by polyamines and metabolic inhibition

    Författare :Karl Swärd; Cellulär biomekanik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; metabolic inhibition; polyamines; excitation-contraction coupling; smooth muscle; intracellular calcium; Physiology; Fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The relationship between intracellular free calcium ([Ca2+]i) and force in smooth muscle was investigated in receptor-coupled permeabilized preparations and by fluorimetry of the calcium indicator Fura 2 in intact smooth muscle. The time integral of spontaneous [Ca2+]i transients in the intact rat portal vein was decreased by cyanide and, during tonic contraction, cyanide reduced force without changing [Ca2+]i implying metabolic sensitivity of both membrane excitation and [Ca2+]i - activation of the contractile proteins. 5. 5. Cardiovascular morbidity and metabolic signature in patients with rheumatoid arthritis

    Författare :Mitra Nadali; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cardiovascular mortality; Rheumatoid arthritis; metabolic signature;

    Sammanfattning : Background and objectives: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic systemic inflammatory disease with excess risk for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. The treatment of RA by anti-inflammatory drugs has dramatically been improved over the resent decades. LÄS MER
