  1. 11. Microdialysis Sampling, Electrochemical Detection and Mass Spectrometry of Carbohydrates in Monitoring Bioprocesses

    Författare :Nelson Torto; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; monosaccharides; membrane; IPED; ion spray; probe internal geometry; extraction fraction; electrochemical oxidation; electrochemical detection; disaccharides; desalting; carbohydrates; bioprocess monitoring; Cu; APCI; Au; MS; oligosaccharides; PAD; PEI; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses; (1) the microdialysis experiment, application and methodology to maximise its performance when sampling from enzymatic bioprocesses, (2) electrochemical detection and electrochemical oxidation of carbohydrates on Au as well as Cu electrodes in alkaline solutions, and (3) coupling and maximising the performance of a microdialysis sampling based high performance anion exchange chromatography-integrated pulsed electrochemical detection-mass spectrometry system. Studies were carried out to investigate the effect of temperature, analyte as well as biomatrix complexity, analyte concentration, permeability factors, protein(enzyme)-membrane interaction and membrane material on the performance of microdialysis sampling.     Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; sample clean-up; human blood plasma; hollow-fibre liquid phase microextraction; supported liquid membrane extraction; SLM; HF-LPME; sample preparation; bioanalysis; liquid-liquid extraction; Chemistry; Kemi; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Bioanalytical chemistry is a challenging field, often involving complex samples, such as blood, plasma, serum or urine. In many applications, sample cleanup is the most demanding and time-consuming step. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Membrane Protein Tailoring and Structural Studies of Leukotriene C4 Synthase

    Författare :Daniel Martinez Molina; Pär Nordlund; Robert M. Stroud; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; membrane proteins; random mutagenesis; detergent screening; Leukotriene C₄ synthase; IMAC; Structural biology; Strukturbiologi; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Despite a dramatic increase in the number of proteins that have been structurally characterized in recent years, there are still less than 200 unique structures of membrane proteins known today. This is only 1% of the total number of unique protein structures found in structural databases worldwide. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Methane and Volatile Fatty Acids Production from Toxic Substrate

    Författare :- Lukitawesa; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; toxic substrate; methane; volatile fatty acid; anaerobic digestion; membrane bioreactor; factor; tubular membrane; two-stage digestion; Resource Recovery; Resursåtervinning;

    Sammanfattning : Challenges caused by climate change and global warming have created a demand for improvements in resource recovery and the promotion of a circular economy. Waste management is one such challenge for which more recycling options are required for producing materials and energy sources from wastes. LÄS MER
