  1. 1. Extra- and intrafusal muscle fibre type compositions of the human masseter at young age. : In perspective of growth and functional maturation of the jaw-face motor system

    Författare :Catharina Österlund; Per-Olof Eriksson; Lars-Eric Thornell; Per Stål; Malin Ernberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; jaw; limb; human; muscle; morphology; fibre type; myosin heavy chain; muscle spindle; Morphology; Morfologi; anatomi; Human Anatomy;

    Sammanfattning : Muscles control body posture and movement by extrafusal and intrafusal (muscle spindle) fibres. The purpose of this thesis was to provide insight into the muscular basis for human jaw function at young age. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Specific Language Impairment in Swedish: Grammar and Interaction

    Författare :Kristina Hansson; foniatri och audiologi Logopedi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Otorhinolaryngology; interaction; mazes; subordination; word order; verb forms; grammar; Swedish; specific language impairment; audiology; auditive system and speech; Otorinolaryngologi; audiologi; hörsel- och talorganen;

    Sammanfattning : The main purpose of this work was to explore grammar in Swedish children with Specific Language Impairment (SLI), that is children with impaired language development in the presence of normal hearing and otherwise normal development. In four differents studies, spontaneous data from six children with SLI were analysed and compared with data from either younger children with phonological impairment but normal grammar (PI), or from younger controls with typical development. 3. 3. Chromoendoscopy with particular reference to a modified endoscopic Congo red test

    Författare :Ervin Toth; Gastroenterologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Gastroenterologi; Gastro-enterology; therapy; diagnosis; gastrointestinal endoscopy; Chromoendoscopy; Congo red;

    Sammanfattning : Chromoendoscopy, endoscopic tissue staining, is an adjunctive method using chemical agents applied to the mucosal surface in order to aid gastrointestinal endoscopic diagnosis and therapy. Acid producing mucosa in the GI tract may be visualized endoscopically by Congo red staining in combination with stimulation of gastric acid production. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Aspects of locomotor evolution in the Carnivora (Mammalia)

    Författare :Ki Andersson; Lars E. Holmer; Lars Werdelin; Margaret E. Lewis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Morphology; Mammalia; Carnivora; Locomotion; Cranial; Elbow joint; Morphology; Morphometrics; Landmarks; Multivariate statistics; Allometry; Ecomorphology; Dental; Body size; Morfologi; Morphology; cell biology; pathology; Morfologi; cellbiologi; patologi;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, the shape of the distal humerus trochlea is analysed using landmark-based morphometrics and multivariate methods, with the aim of exploring locomotor evolution in carnivorans. Elbow joint morphology is used together with body size and craniodental morphology to characterize past and present carnivorans. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Ultrastructural Studies of the Airway Epithelium in Airway Diseases

    Författare :Eyman Shebani; Godfried M. Roomans; Marie Johannesson; Anil Mehta; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Ultrastructural studies of airway epithelium in airway disease are important for diagnosis and understanding the underlying pathology which helps clinicians to improve the patients' treatment.Airway biopsies from a 5-month old boy with respiratory problems and gastro-oesophageal reflux were studied by transmission electron microscopy (TEM).
