  1. 1. Metaphyseal Fracture Healing

    Författare :Olof Sandberg; Per Aspenberg; Aaron Schindeler; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Most of what is known about fracture healing comes from studies of shaft fractures in long bones. In contrast, patients more often have fractures closer to the ends (metaphyses). Here most bone tissue has a spongy, cancellous structure different from the compact bone of the shaft. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Clinical aspect of laser treatment of lichen sclerosus and squamous cell carcinoma of the penis

    Författare :Torgny Windahl; Jan-Erik Johansson; Peter Ekman; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicin; Penile diseases; lichens; penile neoplasms; lasers; carcinoma; squamous cell carcinoma; sexual function; sexaul satisfaction; medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin; Medicine; Medicin;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of these studies was to investigate the efficacy, complications and the long term results after laser treatment of lichen sclerosus et atrophicus and of squamous cell carcinoma of the penis.Patients and Methods: Paper I: In a prospective study from 1985-1991, 62 men with histologically verified lichen sclerosus et atrophicus were given carbon dioxide (CO2) laser treatment following the failure of local corticosteroid treatment. 3. 3. About hyaluronan in the hypertrophic heart : studies on coordinated regulation of extracellular matrix signalling

    Författare :Urban Hellman; Anders Waldenström; Stellan Mörner; Anna Engström-Laurent; Lena Jonasson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :hyaluronan; hyaluronan synthases; gene expression; extracellular matrix; cardiac hypertrophy; rat wistar; male ; cardiomyocytes; growth factors; fibroblasts; microvesicles; exosomes; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medicine; medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Background. Myocardial hypertrophy is a risk factor for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Independent of underlying disease, the cardiac muscle strives in different ways to compensate for an increased workload. This remodelling of the heart includes changes in the extracellular matrix which will affect systolic and diastolic cardiac function. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Mechanisms in Tendon Healing : Pain, Biomarkers and the Role of Mast Cells

    Författare :Abdul Alim; Magnus Peterson; Gunnar Pejler; Per Kristiansson; Paul W. Ackermann; Gustav Andersson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Tendon Healing; Pain; Biomarkers; Mast Cells; Inflammation; Microdialysis; Neurotransmitters; Glutamate Receptors; Procollagen; Transcriptional factors; Biology with specialization in Molecular Immunology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylär immunologi; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylärbiologi; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Tendon injuries and tendinopathy are common disorders, but the underlying mechanisms are not well understood. The overall aim of this thesis was to better understand the mechanisms underlying tendon healing, pain, and inflammation. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Tendon Healing : Mechanical Loading, Microdamage and Gene Expression

    Författare :Malin Hammerman; Per Aspenberg; Pernilla Eliasson; Ludvig Backman; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Mechanical loading and the inflammatory response during tendon healing might be important for the healing process. Mechanical loading can improve the healing tendon but the mechanism is not fully understood. LÄS MER
