  1. 11. Lipoproteomics : Environmental and Genetic Factors Affecting High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL)

    Författare :Stefan Ljunggren; Mats Lindahl; Gun Wingren; Helen Karlsson; Jan Albert Kuivenhoven; Björn Dahlbäck; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Lipoprotein particles act as lipid transporters in the blood stream, and measuring cholesterol content in specific subclasses of lipoprotein particles has long been, and still is, a frequently used tool to estimate the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). High-density lipoprotein (HDL) is a subclass of lipoproteins often regarded as providing protection against CVD via several functions including reverse cholesterol transport and anti-inflammatory capacities. Sammanfattning : Throughout the last century, medical imaging has come to revolutionise the way we diagnose disease, and is today an indispensable part of virtually any clinical practice. In cardiovascular care imaging is extensively utilised, and the development of novel techniques promises refined diagnostic abilities: ultrasound elastography allows for constitutive tissue assessment, 4D flow magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) enables full-field flow mapping, and micro-Computed Tomography (CT) permits high-resolution imaging at pre-clinical level. 4. 14. Medical Device Innovation : The integrated processes of invention, diffusion and deployment

    Författare :Kerstin Roback; Jan Persson; Stuart S. Blume; Linköpings universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : An increased use of medical devices has been assumed to be a major cause of rising healthcare expenditures. Nations around the world are trying to keep costs down, but strong incentives still exist for the development and use of new devices. Innovation is, however, never exclusively good or bad and it is not easy to evaluate the net effect. LÄS MER

  5. 15. The Balanced Electromagnetic Separation Transducer for Bone Conduction Audiometry and Hearing Rehabilitation

    Författare :Karl-Johan Fredén Jansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; retention magnet; bone vibrator; demagnetization; bone conduction; balanced electromagnetic separation transducer; magnetically induced torque; image artifact; magnetic resonance imaging;

    Sammanfattning : Hearing via air conduction (AC) and bone conduction (BC) are attributed to bethe natural ways of conducting sound to the cochlea. With AC hearing, air pressurevariations are transmitted to the cochlea via the ear canal, whereas with BChearing, sound vibrations are transmitted through the skull bone to the cochlea. LÄS MER
