6. A Segmented Silicon Strip Detector for Photon-Counting Spectral Computed Tomography
Sammanfattning : Spectral computed tomography with energy-resolving detectors has a potential to improve the detectability of images and correspondingly reduce the radiation dose to patients by extracting and properly using the energy information in the broad x-ray spectrum. A silicon photon-counting detector has been developed for spectral CT and it has successfully solved the problem of high photon flux in clinical CT applications by adopting the segmented detector structure and operating the detector in edge-on geometry. 7. Inhaled Nitric Oxide Therapy : Non-response and Rebound Response
Sammanfattning : Therapeutic inhaled nitric oxide (INO) has proved beneficial in patients with pulmonary hypertension. However, around 30-40% of the patients are non-responders to this therapy, and a life-threatening rebound response may occur during attempts to withdraw INO. LÄS MER
8. Treponema spp. in porcine skin ulcers : clinical aspects
Sammanfattning : The hypothesis tested in this work is that bacteria of genus Treponema play a main role when shoulder ulcers and ear necrosis occur in an infectious or severe form, and perhaps also in other skin conditions in the pig. Samples were collected from pigs in 19 Swedish herds 2010-2011. LÄS MER
9. Protein and Cell Interactions with Nanostructured Surfaces
Sammanfattning : A great challenge of today’s implant development is to construct a surface that promotes tissue integration and avoids bacterial colonization. To avoid implant related infections, many argue that a surface promoting strong cell adhesion and tissue integration in favour for bacterial adhesion would solve the problem, the so-called race for the surface concept. 10. Mesoporous Implants for Localized Controlled Drug Delivery
Sammanfattning : The use of bone-anchored implants is today a routine treatment for patients with normal regenerative capacity. However, there is an ongoing development within implant research to improve the osseointegration of implants. LÄS MER
