11. Antioxidant-Impregnated Polymers / Antioxidant Ability and Interactions with Food
Sammanfattning : Interactions between antioxidant-impregnated low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and polypropylene (PP), and oxygen-sensitive foods have been investigated. BHT and a-tocopherol are two antioxidants commonly used in both foods and polymers. In general, BHT was rapidly lost from LDPE film in contact with various foodstuffs. LÄS MER
12. Engineering 3D degradable pliable scaffolds for adipose tissue regeneration : Advancing cell-material interactions by understanding the influence from thermal, chemical, mechanical properties and scaffold design
Sammanfattning : In soft tissue defects that arise due to trauma, tumor resections and complex burns, a significant loss in adipose tissue remains a considerable challenge due to the insufficient regenerative capacity of the tissue. This thesis focuses on assessing cell-material interactions between degradable 3D polymer scaffolds with different designs and adipose tissue-derived stem cells. LÄS MER
13. Towards novel applications for biomolecular interactions at surfaces
Sammanfattning : The focus of this thesis has been to examine two new concepts involving the interaction of biological agents with synthetic material surfaces. The feasibility of deploying phage display techniques for the screening of materials in non-biological media was examined in two studies. 14. Amino acid sequence and side chain specific synthetic receptors targeting protein phosphorylation
Sammanfattning : Antibodies have become a critical component of many diagnostic assays and are used for therapeutic purposes. Nevertheless they often fail to meet the strict performance demands raised in industry and in the clinic (e.g. stability, reproducibility, selectivity, affinity). LÄS MER
15. Antimicrobial Polymer Composites for Medical Applications
Sammanfattning : The current study and discuss the long-term properties of biomedical polymers in vitro and invivo and presents means to design and manufacture antimicrobial composites. Antimicrobialcomposites with reduced tendency for biofilm formation should lead to lower risk for medicaldevice associated infection. LÄS MER
