  1. 1. The impression technique for assessment of tissue oedema : instrumentation, evaluation and applications

    Författare :Olof Lindahl; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medical Engineering for Healthcare;

    Sammanfattning : An instrument for clinical noninvasive assessment of tissue oedema based on an impression method was developed. The method measures and evaluates the decaying force, due to translocation of tissue fluid, during mechanical compression of any site of tissue. We applied the impression method on physical models, animal models, and patients. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Textile-enabled Bioimpedance Instrumentation for Personalised Health Monitoring Applications

    Författare :Javier Ferreira Gonzalez; Kaj Lindecrantz; Fernando Seoane; Javier Jiménez Leube; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; personal healthcare systems; bioimpedance; wearable; portable; monitoring; textrodes; body composition; chronic kidney disease; ambient assisting living; wireless sensor;

    Sammanfattning : A growing number of factors, including the costs, technological advancements, an ageing population, and medical errors are leading industrialised countries to invest in research on alternative solutions to improving their health care systems and increasing patients’ life quality. Personal Health System (PHS) solutions envision the use of information and communication technologies that enable a paradigm shift from the traditional hospital-centred healthcare delivery model toward a preventive and person-centred approach. 3. 3. Practical Implementation of Quality Assurance Guidelines for Hyperthermia Therapy

    Författare :Mattia de Lazzari; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hyperthermia; quality assurance; tissue-mimicking phantoms;

    Sammanfattning : Hyperthermia therapy (HT) has been proven to be a potent enhancer of chemotherapy and radiotherapy in numerous clinical trials. The effectiveness of HT is strictly dependent on the administered thermal dose, which, in turn, is dependent on the quality of the therapeutic heat applied to the patient. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Radiobiological investigations of proton and light ion therapy

    Författare :Nina Tilly; Michael Scholz; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiobiology; Monte Carlo method; Radiotherapy; high-energy instrumentation; Protons; Light ions; RBE; LET; Radiobiological models; Radiobiologi; medicinsk strålningsfysik; Medical Radiation Physics;

    Sammanfattning : During the last decade, the interest in proton and light ion beam therapy has increased considerably and several new centres are planned around the world. These particles have a large advantage due to their sharp physical dose distributions as compared to conventional radiotherapy beams. LÄS MER
