  1. 1. Electrochemical machining: towards 3D simulation and application on SS316

    Författare :A. A. Gomez-Gallegos; UK University of Edinburgh; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; electrochemical machining; 3D Simulation; FEM; stainless Steel 316; surface Finish; Maskinteknik; Mechanical Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Electrochemical machining (ECM) is a non-conventional manufacturing process, which uses electrochemical dissolution to shape any conductive metal regardless of its mechanical properties and without leaving behind residual stresses or tool wear. Therefore, ECM can be an alternative for machining difficult-to-cut materials, complex geometries, and materials with improved characteristics, such as strength, heat-resistance or corrosion-resistance. 2. 2. On Premixed Gas Fuelled Stirling Engine Combustors with Combustion Gas Recirculation

    Författare :Magnus Pålsson; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; vibration and acoustic engineering; Maskinteknik; vakuumteknik; vibrationer; akustik; Motors and propulsion systems; Motorer; framdrivningssystem; hydraulik; Mechanical engineering; hydraulics; vacuum technology; termodynamik; Termisk teknik; applied thermodynamics; Thermal engineering; heat pipe; ejector; solar energy; CGR; recirculation; EGR; catalytic combustion; premix combustion; Stirling engine; combustor;

    Sammanfattning : The main objective in the research described in this thesis was to design and test the use of lean premixed combustion using combustion gas recirculation for gas fuelled Stirling engine combustors. A system using a flame-arrester type of flame-holder to stabilize the flame and an ejector system for the recirculation of combustion gas was designed and tested in the laboratory. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The role of microstructure for crack propagation in cortical bone

    Författare :Anna Gustafsson; Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Crack deflection; Interface; Mechanical testing; Micro-CT; Osteon; Porosity; XFEM;

    Sammanfattning : Healthy cortical bone tissue is both tough and strong and has a unique ability to resist fracture. One reason is the hierarchical structure of the tissue where toughening mechanisms at all length scales act to slow down or stop a propagating crack. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Theoretical and experimental studies of a single tooth milling process

    Författare :Mathias Werner; Cornel Mihai Nicolescu; Lars Nyborg; KTH; []

    Sammanfattning : The industrial development of metal cutting processes in gear manufacturing aims at continuously increasing productivity, including increased tool reliability. Basically, the parameters that have an influence on the cutting processes should be known and possible to control.Gear manufacturing is highly important for the automotive industry. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Mechanical Properties of Resistance Spot Welds in Lightweight Applications

    Författare :Davood Afshari; Zuheir Barsoum; Arne Melander; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Spot Weld; Aluminum alloy; Mechanical Properties; Finite Element; SRA - Production; SRA - Produktion;

    Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis is concerned with residual stresses in aluminum alloy 6061-T6 resistance spot welded joint. Several topics related to mechanical strength of welded structures are treated such as; nugget size and microhardness and microstructures of weld zone and their influence on mechanical strength of welded structure, failure load measurement using tensile-shear test, resistance spot welding simulation, residual stress measurement by X-ray diffraction method and analysis effect of welding parameters on the mechanical strength and the residual stresses.
