6. Criterion-referenced measurement for educational evaluation and selection
Sammanfattning : In recent years, Sweden has adopted a criterion-referenced grading system, where the grade outcome is used for several purposes, but foremost for educational evaluation on student- and school levels as well as for selection to higher education. This thesis investigates the consequences of using criterion-referenced measurement for both educational evaluation and selection purposes. LÄS MER
7. Studies in Glacier Mass Balance : Measurement and its errors
Sammanfattning : The study of the surface mass balance of valley glaciers has a long history but one that is dogged by uncertainty and errors, and uncertainty about those errors. These problems are acknowledged by the glaciological community and have been examined and formalised in several publications. LÄS MER
8. Lipid peroxidation in vivo : Evaluation and application of methods for measurement
Sammanfattning : Lipid peroxidation is thought to be an important factor in the pathophysiology of a number of diseases and in the process of ageing, but its measurement in vivo has been difficult. The aim of this thesis was to evaluate methods for measurement of lipid peroxidation in vivo that are suitable for clinical investigations, and to apply these methods in animal and human studies investigating basal conditions and situations associated with increased lipid peroxidation. 9. Friction in metal powder pressing : measurement and characterisation
Sammanfattning : The present work describes different methods for measuring and characterisation of friction in powder compaction process. A new test apparatus has been developed and presented which gives possibility of directly measurement of coefficient of friction during pressing from low to relative high density. LÄS MER
10. Ultrasonic measurement principles : modeling, identification, and parameter estimation
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents contributions within the fields of ultrasonic modeling and measurement technology, with focus on solutions to difficult modeling and measurement problems. The work is divided into two categories: 1) processing of measurements obtained under non-ideal conditions, such as unsynchronized, distorted, and superimposed signals; 2) estimating acoustic models and parameters from materials, fluids, fluid mixtures, and thin-layered structures.
