  1. 21. Analysis of factorial experiments using mixed-effects models: options for estimation, prediction and inference

    Författare :Razaw Al-Sarraj; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : In linear mixed-effects modelling of experiments, estimation of variance components, prediction of random effects, and computation of denominator degrees of freedom associated with inference on fixed effects, are important elements of the analysis. This thesis investigates alternatives to the likelihoodbased procedures for analysis of factorial experiments with normally distributed observations. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Fuel-efficient driving strategies

    Författare :Sina Torabi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; speed profile optimization; fuel efficiency; neural networks.; energy efficiency; genetic algorithms; performance analysis; road grade estimation; mass estimation; vehicle platooning;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with fuel-efficient driving strategies for vehicles driving on roads with varying topography, as well as estimation of road grade and vehicle mass for vehicles utilizing such strategies. A framework referred to as speed profile optimization (SPO), is introduced for reducing the fuel or energy consumption of single vehicles (equipped with either combustion or electric engines) and platoons of several vehicles. 3. 23. Signal Design for Active Sensing and Communications

    Författare :Mojtaba Soltanalian; Petre Stoica; Bo Wahlberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Man-made active sensing systems such as active radar and sonar have been a vital part of our civilization's advancement in navigation, defense, meteorology, and space exploration. Modern active sensing systems rely heavily on the significant progress in the science and technology of communications made within the last century. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Remote Sensing of Woodland Structure and Composition in the Sudano-Sahelian zone : Application of WorldView-2 and Landsat 8

    Författare :Martin Karlson; Madelene Ostwald; Tina Schmid Neset; Heather Reese; Frédéric Achard Forobs; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Remote sensing; Sudano-Sahel; woodland; agroforestry; WorldView-2; Landsat 8; tree attributes; tree canopy cover; aboveground biomass; Random Forest; Fjärranalys; Sudano-Sahel; woodland; WorldView-2; Landsat 8; trädattribut; trädtäcke; biomassa; Random Forest;

    Sammanfattning : Woodlands constitute the subsistence base of the majority of people in the Sudano-Sahelian zone (SSZ), but low availability of in situ data on vegetation structure and composition hampers research and monitoring. This thesis explores the utility of remote sensing for mapping and analysing vegetation, primarily trees, in the SSZ. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Applications of artificial neural networks for time series data analysis in energy domain

    Författare :Fan Zhang; Hasan Fleyeh; Stawomir Nowaczyk; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Deregulated energy market; electricity prices; district heating; energy efficiency; neural networks; Complex Systems – Microdata Analysis; Komplexa system - mikrodataanalys;

    Sammanfattning : With the development of artificial intelligence techniques and increased installation of smart meters in recent years, time series analysis using historical data in the energy domain becomes applicable. In this thesis, microdata analysis approaches are used, which consist of data acquisition, data processing, data analysis and data modelling, aiming to address two research problems in the energy domain.
