1. Mechanistic aspects of structure and dynamics in perovskite type oxyhydrides and alkali silanides
Sammanfattning : This Thesis concerns experimental studies of the two alkali silanides ASiH3 (A = K and Rb) and the recently discovered perovskite type oxyhydrides BaTiO3-xHx (x = 0.14 and 0.40). LÄS MER
2. NMR Studies of Gel-Emulsions; Diffusometry and Applications of Novel Field Gradient Techniques
Sammanfattning : The aim of these studies has been to investigate what information that can be obtained on gel-emulsions with nuclear magnetic resonance, NMR, as the investigating tool. The gel-emulsions are important in many technical applications such as in food products, in cosmetic and pharmaceutical formulations, and in emulsion explosives, just to name a few applications. 3. Experimental and Numerical Investigations of Confluent Round Jets
Sammanfattning : Unconfined multiple interacting confluent round jets are interesting from a purely scientific point of view, as interaction between neighboring jets brings additional complexity to the flow field. Unconfined confluent round jets also exist in various engineering applications, such as ventilation supply devices, sewage disposal systems, combustion burners, chemical mixing or chimney stacks. 4. Computer simulations of electronic energy transfer and a molecular dynamics study of a decapeptide
Sammanfattning : Electronic energy transfer has been investigated in pure donor systems by means of computer simulations. Calculated properties were the probability that the initially excited donor is excited at a time t after the excitation, Gs(t), the mean square displacement of the excitation and different fluorescence observables. 5. X-ray computed tomography to study moisture distribution in wood
Sammanfattning : X-ray computed tomography (CT) has been used as an analysing tool for different features in wood research since the beginning of the1980s, but it can also be used to study wood-water interactions in different ways, such as by determining wood moisture content (MC). The determination of wood MC with CT requires two CT images: one at the unknown moisture distribution and a second one at a known reference MC level, usually at oven-dry condition. LÄS MER
