  1. 1. Water Realities and Development Trajectories : Global and Local Agricultural Production Dynamics

    Författare :Mats Lannerstad; Jan Lundqvist; Malin Falkenmark; David Molden; Paul Appasamy; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Agriculture development; food production; per capita food supply; consumptive water use; evaporation; transpiration; hydro-climatic variability; blue water resource; green water resource; irrigation; river depletion; river basin closure; adaptive water management; vegetal and animal foods; Jordbruksutveckling; matproduktion; per capita mattillgång; konsumerande vattenanvändning; evaporation; transpiration; hydroklimatisk variabilitet; blåvattenresurs; grönvattenresurs; bevattning; uttorkning av vattendrag; överintecknade avrinningsområden; anpassad vattenhantering; vegetarisk och animalisk föda.; Water in nature and society; Vatten i natur och samhälle;

    Sammanfattning : Water constraints for humans and nature are gaining more and more public attention as a critical environmental dilemma that needs to be addressed. When aquifers and rivers are running dry, the debate refers to an ongoing “world water crisis”. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Nutrient cycling in agroecosystems: nitrogen cycling in southern Sweden in the 1850s and two Tanzanian villages in the 1990s

    Författare :Lars-Erik Williams; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nutrient; nutrient model; nutrient cycling; nitrogen fixation; nitrogen budget; mixed system; miombo; manure; livestock; land use; historical system; food production; efficiency; crops; agroecosystem; carrying capacity; phosphorus; Scania; sustainability; Plant ecology; Växtekologi;

    Sammanfattning : This study presents a general model for analysing nutrient cycling in agroecosystems. The focus is on food production intensity, human carrying capacity, sustainability and efficiency. The model can be used on systems including different kinds of land uses, which makes it applicable for studies on different scales. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The Coloniality of Taste : A political ecology of middle class food practices in a Bolivian city

    Författare :Sarah Kollnig; Humanekologi; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Cochabamba; middle class; white; coloniality; chicken meat; taste;

    Sammanfattning : Cochabamba city, also referred to as the “gastronomic capital of Bolivia”, is a place where different cultures and tastes meet. Indulging in rich culinary traditions is a part of everyday life, but so are social differentiations reproducing long-standing inequalities between the indigenous and the non-indigenous population. 4. 4. Techno-economic evaluation of integrated lignocellulosic ethanol production

    Författare :Elisabeth Joelsson; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; distillers dried grain with solubles; biorefinery; modelling; Aspen Plus; biogas; logging residues; spruce; wheat straw; wheat grain; heat; integration; pinch analysis; techno-economic evaluation; first generation; second generation; Ethanol; Lignocellulosic material;

    Sammanfattning : Sweden has claimed that it wants to have a fossil-free vehicle fleet in 2030 as a milestone of its ambitious goal for 2050 to be a country with a sustainable and resource-efficient energy supply without any net GHG emissions. Production of bioethanol from plant materials is one potential method of meeting this goal. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Production of Ethanol from Spruce at High Solids Concentrations - An Experimental Study on Process Development of Simultaneous Saccharification and Fermentation

    Författare :Kerstin Hoyer; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ethanol; spruce; SSF; fermentation; enzymatic hydrolysis; lignocellulose; high solids;

    Sammanfattning : Replacing fossil fuels by biofuels such as ethanol is considered a promising alternative to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and mitigate climate change. Biofuels produced from lignocellulosic biomass, so-called second generation biofuels, result in decreased GHG emissions and limit competition with food and animal feed production. LÄS MER
