1. Some properties of measures of disagreement and disorder in paired ordinal data
Sammanfattning : The measures studied in this thesis were a measure of disorder, D, and a measure of the individual part of the disagreement, the measure of relative rank variance, RV, proposed by Svensson in 1993. The measure of disorder is a useful measure of order consistency in paired assessments of scales with a different number of possible values. LÄS MER
2. Optimal Sequential Decisions in Hidden-State Models
Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis consists of five research articles on the general topic of optimal decision making under uncertainty in a Bayesian framework. The papers are preceded by three introductory chapters.Papers I and II are dedicated to the problem of finding an optimal stopping strategy to liquidate an asset with unknown drift. LÄS MER
3. Statistical methods for early discovery of diabetic neuropathy using epidermal nerve fiber data
Sammanfattning : The main aim with the work in this thesis is to increase the understanding of the effects diabetic neuropathy has on the epidermal nerve fibers and thereby find methods to detect the disorder at an earlier stage. Epidermal nerve fibers (ENFs) are small sensory nerve fibers in the skin, sensing heat and pain. LÄS MER
4. Interpretation of diagnostic information given patient characteristics
Sammanfattning : The aim with this thesis was to describe, exemplify and develop theory for reference values and diagnostic tests, especially focusing on the variability between individuals. To facilitate interpretation of medical information it is common to establish some kind of limit. There are several different rationales for the choice of such a limit. LÄS MER
5. Craniofacial malformations and psychiatric disorders from a neurodevelopmental perspective
Sammanfattning : Orofacial clefts (OFC) and craniosynostosis (CS) are the two most common craniofacial malformations. Of note, craniofacial abnormalities share some overlapping risk factors with psychiatric disorders. Thus, this thesis aimed to study psychiatric and educational outcomes in this group. LÄS MER
