21. Mesoporous magnesium carbonate as a drug delivery vehicle for stabilising amorphous drugs and regulating their release rate
Sammanfattning : In today’s drug discovery, the number of candidate drugs based on new molecular entities with poor aqueous solubility is increasing. Since poor aqueous solubility of an active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) is associated with low bioavailability and thus limite their therapeutic effect, this is often a great challenge in the development of new drugs when oral administration is the preferred route of administration. 22. Designing out waste - Exploring barriers for material recirculation
Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis has investigated what hinders material recirculation in society, to later suggest possible ways to support material recirculation in the future. Since material recirculation is proposed as a way to use waste materials for new production, it was deemed relevant to investigate two separate case studies that enabled recirculation from production systems and waste management. 23. Generic Modelling of Integrated Material Flows and Energy Systems
Sammanfattning : This dissertation describes MIMES, a nonlinear model for the optimization of linked material and energy flow systems. The model is generic, intended for systems that can be described by material and energy balances. LÄS MER
24. Energy efficiency in heritage buildings : Conservation approaches and their impact on energy efficiency measures
Sammanfattning : The impeding climate change challenge urges for a reduction of energy use in the built environment. Buildings account for nearly 40% of the total energy use and about 35% of the greenhouse gas emissions in Europe. LÄS MER
25. Design Beyond Interventions – Supporting Less Energy-reliant Activities in the Everyday
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses challenges and opportunities for product design to contribute to domestic energy conservation. The overall aim of the thesis is that of increasing the understanding of people’s energy use and their use of energy-reliant artefacts in the everyday in order to propose ways of supporting energy conservation through design.
