1. Real and complex Monge-Ampère equations, statistical mechanics and canonical metrics
Sammanfattning : Recent decades has seen a strong trend in complex geometry to study canonical metrics and the way they relate to geometric analysis, algebraic geometry and probability theory. This thesis consists of four papers each contributing to this field. The first paper sets up a probabilistic framework for real Monge-Ampère equations on tori. LÄS MER
2. Numerical Approximation of Solutions to Stochastic Partial Differential Equations and Their Moments
Sammanfattning : The first part of this thesis focusses on the numerical approximation of the first two moments of solutions to parabolic stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs) with additive or multiplicative noise. More precisely, in Paper I an earlier result (A. Lang, S. Larsson, and Ch. LÄS MER
3. Permanental Point Processes on Real Tori
Sammanfattning : The main motivation for this thesis is to study real Monge-Ampère equations. These are fully nonlinear differential equations that arise in differential geometry. They lie at the heart of optimal transport and, as such, are related to probability theory, statistics, geometrical inequalities, fluid dynamics and diffusion equations. LÄS MER
4. A weak space-time formulation for the linear stochastic heat equation
Sammanfattning : The topic covered in this thesis is the introduction of a new formulation for the linear stochastic heat equation driven by additive noise, based on the space-time variational formulation for its deterministic counterpart. Having a variational formulation allows the use of the so called inf-sup theory in order to obtain results of existence and uniqueness in a relatively simple way. LÄS MER
