  1. 1. On the optimal stopping time of learning

    Författare :Anna Fedyszak-Koszela; Richard Bonner; Dmitrii Silvestrov; Jacek Malec; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; stopping time; MATHEMATICS; MATEMATIK;

    Sammanfattning :  The goal of this thesis is to study the economics of computational learning. Attention is also paid to applications of computational learning models, especially Valiant's so-called `probably approximately correctly' (PAC) learning model, in econometric situations. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Modeling Specialization and Division of Labor in Cultural Evolution

    Författare :Micael Ehn; Eriksson Kimmo; Thomas Mark; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Specialization; Division of Labor; Cultural Evolution; Mathematics Applied Mathematics; matematik tillämpad matematik;

    Sammanfattning : Division of labor and division of knowledge are so important and common in society today that it is difficult to imagine a functional society where everyone knows the same things and performs the same tasks. In such a society everyone grows, or gathers, and prepares their own food, makes their own tools, builds their own house, and so on. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Nonlinearly Perturbed Renewal Equations : asymptotic Results and Applications

    Författare :Ying Ni; Dmitrii Silvestrov; Anatoliy Malyarenko; Mats Gyllenberg; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nonlinearly perturbed renewal equation; perturbed renewal equation; nonlinear perturbation; non-polynomial perturbation; perturbed risk process; perturbed storage process; Mathematical statistics; Matematisk statistik; Mathematics Applied Mathematics; matematik tillämpad matematik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis we investigate a model of nonlinearly perturbed continuous-time renewal equation. Some characteristics of the renewal equation are assumed to have non-polynomial perturbations, more specifically they can be expanded with respect to a non-polynomial asymptotic scale. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The meaning(s) of inclusion in mathematics in student talk : Inclusion as a topic when students talk about learning and teaching in mathematics

    Författare :Helena Roos; Despina Potari; Hanna Palmér; Nùria Planas; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; inclusion in mathematics; discourse analysis; students meaning s ; Matematikens didaktik; Mathematics education; Mathematical Education;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis contributes to research and practice within the field of special education in mathematics with more knowledge about, and an understanding of, students´ meaning(s) of inclusion in mathematics education. Three research questions guide the study: What meaning(s) is/are ascribed, and how is inclusion used, in mathematics education research? What meaning(s) do the students ascribe to inclusion in mathematics learning and teaching? And what frames students´ meaning(s) of inclusion in mathematics learning and teaching?The first part of this study began with a systematic literature review on the notion of inclusion in mathematics education research, and the search resulted in 1,296 research studies. 5. 5. Förskoleklass - ett år att räkna med : förskoleklasslärares möjligheter att följa och analysera elevers kunskapsutveckling i matematik

    Författare :Helena Vennberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : I den här studien undersöktes förskoleklasslärares möjligheter att följa och analysera elevers matematikutveckling utifrån en intervention i matematik läsåret 2012/2013. Två grupperingar med förskoleklasser var aktuella i studien. LÄS MER
