1. Tame representations in Topological Data Analysis: decompositions, invariants and metrics
Sammanfattning : This thesis is a compilation of results that can be framed within the field of applied topology. The starting point of our study is objects presenting a possibly complex intrinsic geometry. The main goal is then to simplify, without trivializing, the geometric information characterising these objects by choosing an appropriate representation. LÄS MER
2. On the optimal stopping time of learning
Sammanfattning : The goal of this thesis is to study the economics of computational learning. Attention is also paid to applications of computational learning models, especially Valiant's so-called `probably approximately correctly' (PAC) learning model, in econometric situations. LÄS MER
3. The Double Obstacle Problem on Metric Spaces
Sammanfattning : During the last decade, potential theory and p-harmonic functions have been developed in the setting of doubling metric measure spaces supporting a p-Poincar´e inequality. This theory unifies, and has applications in several areas of analysis, such as weighted Sobolev spaces, calculus on Riemannian manifolds and Carnot groups, subelliptic differential operators and potential theory on graphs. 4. Proportionalitetsbegreppet i den svenska gymnasiematematiken – en studie om läromedel och nationella prov : [The Concept of Proportionality in the Swedish Upper Secondary School Mathematics – a Study of Textbooks and National Examinations]
5. Some Extensions of Poincaré-Bendixson Theory Applied to a Resonant Converter
Sammanfattning : In this thesis existence and uniqueness of limit cycles are shown for a resonant converter, by extending Poincaré-Bendixson theory to non-smooth vector fields. We discuss relevant control theory and the role of simulations... LÄS MER
