  1. 21. Mechanisms triggering the recruitment of mast cell progenitors to the lung and regulation of mast cell degranulation

    Författare :Behdad Zarnegar; Jenny Hallgren; Madeleine Rådinger; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mast cells; Mast cell progenitors; Recruitment; Lung; Virus; Influenza; Innate immunity; Poly I:C; IL-33; VAAT; SLC10A4; Degranulation;

    Sammanfattning : Mast cells stem from the bone marrow and migrate via the blood as mast cell progenitors. Upon arrival in peripheral tissues, they develop into mast cells. These rare immune cells have numerous granules that contain large amounts of pro-inflammatory mediators. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Sculpted through Time : Evolution and Function of Serine Proteases from the Mast Cell Chymase Locus

    Författare :Maike Gallwitz; Lars Hellman; Lars Pilström; Urban Gullberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Immunology; immune system; mast cell; chymase locus; serine protease; evolution; gene duplication; Immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : Immune cells like NK cells, T cells, neutrophils and mast cells store high amounts of granule serine proteases, graspases. Graspases are encoded from the mast cell chymase locus. The human locus holds four genes: α-chymase, cathepsin G, and granzymes H and B. In contrast, the mouse locus contains at least 14 genes. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Cutting Edge – Cleavage Specificity and Biochemical Characterization of Mast Cell Serine Proteases

    Författare :Ulrika Karlson; Lars Hellman; Urban Gullberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; mast cell; serine protease; tryptase; chymase; substrate specificity; phage display; Biologi; Biology; Biologi; Molecular Immunology; molekylär immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : It is well established that mast cells (MC) are key players in airway pathologies such as allergic asthma, but they are also known to contribute to host defense and tissue remodeling. MC serine proteases are the major protein components of mast cell granules and accordingly, are most likely involved in many aspects of MC function. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Signal Transduction in Mast Cell Migration

    Författare :Magnus Sundström; Bengt Hallberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; HMC-1; Kit; MAP kinase; mast cells; mastocytosis; p38; SCF; TGF-β; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Pathology; patologi;

    Sammanfattning : Mast cells are essential effector cells in the immune system as they release several inflammatory mediators. An accumulation of mast cells has been described in inflammatory conditions such as asthma and allergic rhinitis. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Regulation of human mast cell development

    Författare :Malin Hjertson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; Mast cells; hematopoiesis; chemotaxis; SCF; FL; GM-CSF; IL-3; RA; SDF-1; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Pathology; patologi;

    Sammanfattning : Mast cells are multifunctional effector cells of the immune system and are best known for theirparticipation in allergic reactions. The aim of this thesis was to investigate how the stem cell factor(SCF)-dependent development of mast cells from cord blood can be regulated by different factors, and tostudy how immature mast cells circulating in the blood can be recruited into the tissue.
