1. Measurement and Application of Multidirectional Mobilities
Sammanfattning : The direct measurement of moment mobility, employing a twin exciter technique, is theoretically and experimentally examined. This is continued by a theoretical and experimental analysis of an improved technique using source signal filtering, for two degrees of freedom, for the measurement of multidirectional mobilities. 2. Plasma Interactions with Icy Bodies in the Solar System
Sammanfattning : Here I study the “plasma interactions with icy bodies in the solar system”, that is, my quest to understand the fundamental processes that govern such interactions. By using numerical modelling combined with in situ observations, one can infer the internal structure of icy bodies and their plasma environments. LÄS MER
3. NONLINEAR MECHANICS OF GRAPHENE AND MASS-LOADING INDUCED DEPHASING IN NANORESONATORS
Sammanfattning : I summarize the results of my research in the subjects of nonlinear mechanics of grapheneresonators, mass-loading induced dephasing in nanomechanical resonators and spintronicsbasedmesoscopic heat engines for cooling the fundamental flexural mode of a CNT resonator. This thesis consists of three parts. 4. Ion escape from Mars
Sammanfattning : When the solar wind reaches the Mars obstacle, mass loading by planetary ions slows down the solar wind and raises the bow shock. The Martian atmosphere is undergoing the a scavenging by the solar wind without the protection of a global magnetic field. Atmospheric escape is an important process for the evolution of the Martian climate. LÄS MER
5. Integration of Surface Acoustic Wave and Microfluidic Technologies for Liquid-Phase Sensing Applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis discusses a new concept for construction of a novel SAW in-liquid sensor employing surface acoustic wave resonance (SAR) in a one-port configuration. In this concept, the reflective gratings of a one-port SAW resonator are employed as mass loading-sensing elements, while the SAW transducer is protected from the measurement environment, reducing power losses significantly.
