16. Lung function measured with SPECT in infants and children with bronchopulmonary dysplasia : correlation with respiratory management and clinical grading
Sammanfattning : Chronic lung disease, bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) is a common and severe complication among extremely preterm born infants and infants with lung hypoplasia. Clinical grading of BPD is performed at 36 weeks postmenstrual age (or 56 days of age in moderately preterm infants) based on the need for supplemental oxygen. LÄS MER
17. Two papers on consistent estimation of a route choice model and link speed using sparse GPS data
Sammanfattning : Global Positioning System and nomad devices are increasingly used to provide data from individuals in urban traffic networks. In these two papers we focus on consistent estimators of a route choice model and link speed. LÄS MER
18. Navigation and Mapping for Aerial Vehicles Based on Inertial and Imaging Sensors
Sammanfattning : Small and medium sized Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) are today used in military missions, and will in the future find many new application areas such as surveillance for exploration and security. To enable all these foreseen applications, the UAV's have to be cheap and of low weight, which restrict the sensors that can be used for navigation and surveillance. LÄS MER
19. Robust LIDAR-Based Localization in Underground Mines
Sammanfattning : The mining industry is currently facing a transition from manually operated vehicles to remote or semi-automated vehicles. The vision is fully autonomous vehicles being part of a larger fleet, with humans only setting high-level goals for the autonomous fleet to execute in an optimal way. LÄS MER
20. Natural Intelligence in Artificial Creatures
Sammanfattning : What mechanisms are needed in a cognitive system, such as an animal or a robot, and how do these mechanisms interact with each other? The thesis presents a study of this problem within the field of behavior-based systems and artificial neural networks. The thesis brings together ideas from behavior-based robotics, control theory and machine learning and combines them with models from ethology, psychology and neurobiology in an attempt to synthesize a complete, artificial nervous system for a simulated artificial creature.
