  1. 1. Regulation of cell differentiation and invasion by members of the TGFß family

    Författare :Kalliopi Tzavlaki; Aristidis Moustakas; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Laia Caja; Staffan Johansson; Gareth Inman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TGFβ; BMP; LKB1; signal transduction; cancer; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Transforming growth factor β (TGFβ) and bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signaling pathways are important in embryonic development and tissue homeostasis, but also have complex roles in the context of cancer. TGFβ promotes epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) a physiological developmental process, often hijacked in different types of cancer, eventually leading to cancer cell invasion and metastasis. 2. 2. Transcriptional and Epigenetic Regulation of Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition

    Författare :E-Jean Tan; Aristidis Moustakas; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Geert Berx; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TGFβ; EMT; HMGA2; Snail; Twist; E-cadherin; epigenetics; invasion; Molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Sammanfattning : The transforming growth factor beta (TGFβ) is a cytokine that regulates a plethora of cellular processes such as cell proliferation, differentiation, migration and apoptosis. TGFβ signals via serine/threonine kinase receptors and activates the Smads to regulate gene expression. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Estrogen receptor signalling in mammary epithelial cells

    Författare :Malin Hedengran Faulds; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :ER; STAT5; mammary epithelial cell differentiation; EGF; DAX-1;

    Sammanfattning : The mammary gland is a complex tissue going through cycles of extensive proliferation and differentiation. Many hormones are involved in the regulation of development of the mammary gland, including estrogen, prolactin and epidermal growth factor (EGF). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Regulation of cellular plasticity and extracellular vesicle secretion in breast cancer

    Författare :Chrysoula Tsirigoti; Aristidis Moustakas; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Pierre Savagner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cellular plasticity; extracellular vesicles; breast cancer; EMT; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine; Molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a dynamic process controlling the transition of cells between epithelial and mesenchymal states in various physiological or pathological conditions. In cancer, EMT promotes cell dissemination and metastatic colonization, enriches tumors with stem cell populations and confers resistance to anticancer therapy. LÄS MER

  5. 5. STAT5 expression and regulation in mammary epithelial cells

    Författare :Hanne Olsen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :STAT5; JAK2; PPAR-gamma; ER; MAPK; mammary epithelial cell differentiation;

    Sammanfattning : The mammary gland of an adult mammal undergoes cycles of proliferation and differentiation influenced by growth factors, peptide, and steroid hormones, e.g. epidermal growth factor (EGF), prolactin (PRL) and estrogen (E). LÄS MER
