  1. 1. Treatment Response in Psychotic Patients in a Naturalistic Setting : Classification, Genes, Drugs, Insight and Social Networks

    Författare :Malin Alenius; Margareta Hammarlund-Udenaes; Per Hartvig Honoré; Leif Lindström; Lena Flyckt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PHARMACY; FARMACI;

    Sammanfattning : Many patients with psychotic symptoms respond poorly to treatment. Various approaches have been made to classify these patients according to treatment response. However, existing classifications have been criticized for various reasons and a new classification system is needed. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Pharmaceutical care in coronary heart disease

    Författare :Malin Johansson Östbring; Göran Petersson; Lina Hellström; Tommy Eriksson; Hughes Carmel; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pharmaceutical care; patient experience; medication adherence; medicine management; medication review; motivational interviewing; coronary heart disease; secondary prevention; low-density lipoprotein cholesterol; cardiac rehabilitation; multi-professional collaboration; drug-related problems; pragmatic clinical trial; randomized controlled trial; qualitative analysis; process evaluation; Biomedical Sciences; Biomedicinsk vetenskap; Health and Caring Sciences; Hälsovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Background: In coronary heart disease (CHD), pharmaceutical care implies that health care professionals cooperate with the patient to optimize drug therapy primarily for secondary prevention. Low adherence and discontinuation of drugs are common among patients with CHD, and this is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Approaches to soft drug analogues of dihydrofolate reductase inhibitors : Design and synthesis

    Författare :Malin Graffner Nordberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical chemistry; soft drug; dihydrofolate reductase; synthesis; Farmaceutisk kemi; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Organic Pharmaceutical Chemistry; Organisk farmaceutisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The main objective of the research described in this thesis has been the design and synthesis of inhibitors of the enzyme dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR) intended for local administration and devoid of systemic side-effects. The blocking of the enzymatic activity of DHFR is a key element in the treatment of many diseases, including cancer, bacterial and protozoal infections, and also opportunistic infections associated with AIDS (Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia, PCP). 4. 4. Metabolite Profiling of Drugs using Mass Spectrometry : Identification of analytical targets for doping control and improvements of the metabolite search process

    Författare :Malin Nilsson Broberg; Mikael Hedeland; Ulf Bondesson; Curt Pettersson; Börje Tidstedt; Peter Van Eenoo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mass spectrometry; UHPLC-HRMS; Doping control; Metabolite profile; SARM; Selective Androgen Receptor Modulator; MVDA; Microsomes; Experimental design; Analytisk farmaceutisk kemi; Analytical Pharmaceutical Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Doping is defined as the use of prohibited substances or methods by the World Anti-Doping Agency and the aim with doping control analysis is to detect the use of these illicit substances or methods. Substances that are prohibited in human or equine sports have either a positive or negative impact on the performance. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Post-Transcriptional Regulation of the Murine Inducible Nitric Oxide Synthase Gene

    Författare :Malin Söderberg; Matti A. Lang; Françoise Raffalli-Mathieu; Eeva Moilanen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical biochemistry; iNOS; inducible nitric oxide synthase; gene regulation; post-transcriptional; mRNA stability; RNA-protein interactions; dexamethasone; murine; heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein; hnRNPI; hnRNPL; Farmaceutisk biokemi; Pharmaceutical biochemistry; Farmaceutisk biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Large amounts of nitric oxide (NO) are produced by the inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) upon inflammatory stimuli. NO is a multifaceted molecule, which may have beneficial effects as an antimicrobial agent in the immune defense, or cytotoxic effects in chronic inflammations, manifested as e.g. arthritis and asthma.
