  1. 1. Computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and positron emission tomography in non-Hodgkin's lymphoma

    Författare :Miriam Rodriguez; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; NHL; CT; MRI; PET; malignancy grade; prognosis; residual mass; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; diagnostisk radiologi; Diagnostic Radiology;

    Sammanfattning : Certain aspects of the use of computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) were evaluated in patients with non-Hodgkin'slymphoma (NHL) with the aim of improving the management of these patients.Subjective evaluation of the tumor pattern on CT images, and quantification of tracer uptake using 11C methionine (11C Met) and [18F] fluorodeoxyglucose (18FDG) PET in patients with NHL, were performed to determine their relations to malignancy grade. 2. 2. Applications of diffusion MRI: Tensor-valued encoding, time-dependent diffusion, and histological validation

    Författare :Jan Brabec; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; diffusion MRI; meningioma; glioma; brain tumors; intracranial tumors; undulations; restricted diffusion; time dependence; spherical b-tensor encoding; linear b-tensor encoding; histogram analysis; anisotropic kurtosis; isotropic kurtosis; hyperintensity; conspicuity; white matter; detection; diffusion spectrum; consistency; type; grade; axon diameter; axonal trajectories; Fysicumarkivet A:2022:Brabec;

    Sammanfattning : Diffusion MRI (dMRI) sensitizes the MR signal to the diffusion of water molecules at the microscopic level and thereby non-invasively probes tissue microstructure. This is relevant when determining biological properties of tissues, for example, cancer type and its malignancy. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Modeling and investigations of high-grade glioma to understand tumorigenesis and heterogeneity

    Författare :Nagaprathyusha Maturi; Lene Uhrbom; Helena Carén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; glioblastoma; diffuse pediatric-type high-grade glioma; cell of origin; heterogeneity; serum culture; glioblastoma stem cell; chromatin accessibility; cross-species conservation; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common primary malignant brain tumor. As per 2021 WHO classification, the corresponding diagnosis in children is called diffuse pediatric-type high-grade glioma (pHGG). In both cases tumors are histone 3 (H3) and isocitrate dehydrogenase 1/2 (IDH1/2) wildtype (wt). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Endoscopic methods for detecting malignancy in patients with ulcerative colitis and primary sclerosing cholangitis

    Författare :Bo Lindberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Ulcerative colitis; primary sclerosing cholangitis; cholangiocarcinoma; colorectal cancer; dysplasia; brush cytology; Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography ERCP .;

    Sammanfattning : Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic ulcerative inflammatory bowel disease affecting the mucosa of the large intestine. UC patients have an increased risk for the development of colorectal cancer mainly associated with long duration and extensive involvement of the colitis. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Suggested next steps to prevent cervical cancer after surgical treatment for high-grade cervical dysplasia

    Författare :David Megyessi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The risk of cervical cancer among women treated for high-grade cervical dysplasia is more than twofold compared with the general population, and this risk remains elevated for over two decades. In Sweden, cervical cancer incidence is rising again and the risk of cervical cancer among women with a prior history of high-grade cervical dysplasia has increased since the 1960s. LÄS MER
