  1. 1. Malignancies in Sweden after the Chernobyl accident in 1986

    Författare :Martin Tondel; Bodil Persson; Lennart Hardell; Bengt Järvholm; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Epidemiology; Environmental; Chernobyl; ionising radiation; geographical information systems GIS; 8-OHdG; Malignancies; Low dose; Dose-response; Latency; Causalty; Epidemiology; Epidemiologi;

    Sammanfattning : On 26 April 1986 an accident occurred in the Chernobyl nuclear power plant resulting in the release of large amount of radionuclides. Almost five percent of the total released caesium-137 was deposited in Sweden. The incidence of malignancies in the most affected counties in Sweden was investigated in three epidemiological studies. 2. 2. Recurrent Genetic Mutations in Lymphoid Malignancies

    Författare :Emma Young; Richard Rosenquist; Larry Mansouri; Lesley Ann Sutton; Dimitar Efremov; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Lymphoid malignancies; mutations; CLL; stereotypy; subsets; PMBL; NFKBIE; EGR2; whole-genome sequencing; Molekylär genetik; Molecular Genetics; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : In recent years, the genetic landscape of B-cell derived lymphoid malignancies, including chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), has been rapidly unraveled, identifying recurrent genetic mutations with potential clinical impact. Interestingly, ~30% of all CLL patients can be assigned to more homogeneous subsets based on the expression of a similar or “stereotyped” B-cell receptor (BcR). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Angiogenesis in childhood malignancies

    Författare :Erik Sköldenberg; Rolf Christofferson; Göran Läckgren; Agneta Nordenskjöld; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Angiogenesis Factor; Biopsy; Needle; Neovascularization; Pathologic; Nephroblastoma; Reference value; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Pediatric Surgery; kirurgi; särskilt barnkirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Angiogenesis is necessary for the growth and spread of solid tumors. In these studies angiogenesis was measured in childhood malignancies in general and in Wilms’ tumor in particular, and cutting needle biopsy (CNB) specimens were evaluated for diagnosis in childhood renal tumors. 4. 4. Trisomies in Hematologic Malignancies

    Författare :Kajsa Paulsson; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; cytogenetik; Genetik; cytogenetics; Genetics; leukemia; chromosome aberration; trisomy;

    Sammanfattning : Acquired clonal chromosome aberrations, closely associated with leukemogenesis, are found in many hematologic malignancies. Although the balanced rearrangements, such as translocations and inversions, are the ones most commonly thought of in the context of leukemias, gains of chromosomes ? e.g.. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Prognostic markers and DNA methylation profiling in lymphoid malignancies

    Författare :Sujata Bhoi; Richard Rosenquist Brandell; H Denis Alexander; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Lymphoid malignancies; CLL; MCL; prognostic markers; micro-RNA; methylation; stereotyped subsets;

    Sammanfattning : In recent years, great progress has been achieved towards identifying novel biomarkers in lymphoid malignancies, including chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and mantle cell lymphoma (MCL), at the genomic, transcriptomic and epigenomic level for accurate risk-stratification and prediction of treatment response. In paper I, we validated the prognostic relevance of a recently proposed RNA-based marker in CLL, UGT2B17, and analyzed its expression levels in 253 early-stage patients. LÄS MER
