    Sammanfattning : Avhandlingen utgör en studie kring de s k storbönderna, en social elitkategori inom allmogen, och behandlar bl a kopplingen mellan en ekonomisk och en lokalpolitisk toppgrupp, i syfte att fastställa graden av homogenitet inom eliten. För att kunna belysa frågan undersöks storbönderna inom en socken under drygt hundra års tid (ca 1750-1850), där en tidigare studie (licavhandling) fungerar som ett avstamp - här har perspektivet vidgats ner till tidigt 1600-tal.
