  4. 4. The importance of major histocompatibility complex class II genes for the development of autoimmune inflammation

    Författare :Ulrica Brunsberg; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; transplantation; serology; Immunology; Mhc polymorphism arthritis evolution; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis the role of major histocompatibility complex (Mhc) class II molecules in development of autoimmune disease such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), was studied. By combining an experimental model for RA, collagen type II induced arthritis (CIA), with molecular biology methods the importance of polymorphism in Mhc class II genes for disease development was investigated. 5. 5. Avian MHC: variation and selection in the wild

    Författare :Helena Westerdahl; MEMEG; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; polymorphism; balancing selection; cDNA; avian malaria; great reed warbler; Djurekologi; bird; Animal ecology; immune defence; MHC class II; Major Histocompatibility Complex; MHC class I;

    Sammanfattning : In vertebrates the Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) plays a central role in the specific immune defence against various pathogens. Compared with other coding genes the MHC genes exhibit an extremely high level of polymorphism that is maintained by balancing selection. LÄS MER
