1. MHD Stability and Confinement of Plasmas in a Single Mirror Cell
Sammanfattning : Thermonuclear fusion is a promising energy source for the future. If an economically efficient thermonuclear reactor would be built it has to be a cheap, safe, and highly productive electric power plant, or, a heating plant. LÄS MER
2. Drift and Mirror Modes in Magnetized Plasmas
Sammanfattning : Low frequency plasma instabilities driven by plasma inhomogeneity and velocity anisotropies are major candidates for the explanation of various phenomena observed in fusion and space plasmas. For low-β fusion plasma, the influence of plasma rotation and finite ion temperature on the structure and the type of toroidal drift eigenmodes in tokamaks is investigated rigorously, including the effects induced by the toroidal geometry such as the coupling mode, the radial variation of plasma rotation velocity and the magnetic shear. 3. Mirror Nuclei - Isospin Symmetry Breaking in the Mass A=35 and A=51 Mirror Nuclei
Sammanfattning : High-spin states in the A=35 mirror nuclei 35Ar and 35Cl and A=51 mirror nuclei 51Fe and 51Mn were populated using fusion-evaporation reactions. The gamma rays were detected in the powerful Ge arrays Gammasphere and GASP, respectively, which operated in conjunction with ancillary detectors for evaporated particles. LÄS MER
4. Coil Design and Related Studies for the Fusion-Fission Reactor Concept SFLM Hybrid
Sammanfattning : A fusion-fission (hybrid) reactor is a combination of a fusion device and a subcritical fission reactor, where the fusion device acts as a neutron source and the power is mainly produced in the fission core. Hybrid reactors may be suitable for transmutation of transuranic isotopes in the spent nuclear fuel, due to the safety margin on criticality imposed by the subcritical fission core. LÄS MER
5. The Nucleus 59Cu - Complex Structure, Shape Evolution, Exotic Decay Modes
Sammanfattning : High-spin states in the mass A~60 region were populated using the state-of-art gamma-ray spectrometers Gammasphere, Euroball, and GASP in conjunction with dedicated ancillary detectors. In particular, the 59Cu nucleus was studied in several experiments, and a very extensive level scheme was determined. LÄS MER
