16. Yolk sac morphology and uterine blood flow are associated with fetal outcome in diabetes pregnancy
Sammanfattning : Women with pregestational diabetes have a 3-5 times increased risk of giving birth to malformed babies compared with non-diabetic women. The malformations are likely to be induced before the seventh week of pregnancy, when the yolk sac is partly responsible for the transfer of metabolites to the embryo, and the uterine blood flow to the implantation site determines the net amount of nutrients available to the conceptus. 17. Phospholipase C β3, and its role in endocrine tumorigenesis
Sammanfattning : The Phospholipase C β3 (PLCB3) gene is located on chromosome 11q13, in the vicinity of theMultiple Endocrine Neoplasia type 1 (MEN1) suppressor gene. PLCB3 has been implicated inendocrine tumorigenesis based on findings of low expression in endocrine tumors, and the probableexistence of other suppressor genes located at 11q13. LÄS MER
18. Molecular mechanism of cell regulatory properties of vitamin D analogues in human cancer cell lines
Sammanfattning : The active form of vitamin D, 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3, is a potent modulator of the induction of differentiation and inhibition of cell growth in both malignant and normal cells. Vitamin D and its analogues exert their effects through a transcription factor, the nuclear vitamin D receptor (VDR). LÄS MER
19. Studies on Vitamin A Signaling in Psoriasis : A Comparison Between Normal and Lesional Keratinocytes
Sammanfattning : Vitamin A and metabolites (retinoids) are crucial for normal epidermal maturation. Physiological effects are mediated by retinoic acid (RA) that activates nuclear retinoic acid receptors (RARs) in complexes with retinoid X receptors (RXRs), resulting in altered gene transcription.Psoriasis is a common disease with unknown etiology. 20. Biomolecular simulations, from RNA to protein : thermodynamic and dynamic aspects
Sammanfattning : The process of transforming the information stored in the DNA of genes into functional RNA molecules and proteins via transcription and translation is the most fundamental process of all known life. Even though these processes involve large macromolecules and dynamics on long time scales they all ultimately rely on atomic level interactions between nucleic acids or amino acids. LÄS MER
