1. "Det är månen att nå- " : en studie i några datorintresserade pojkars språk och föreställningsvärld
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to describe some central conceptual ideas expressed in the language of six computer interested boys. The starting-point is the philosophy of language of Ludwig Wittgenstein, where language is seen as something deeply integrated in our practices, traditions and culture. The use of our language shows its meaning. LÄS MER
2. Solar Wind Proton Interactions with Lunar Magnetic Anomalies and Regolith
Sammanfattning : The lunar space environment is shaped by the interaction between the Moon and the solar wind. In the present thesis, we investigate two aspects of this interaction, namely the interaction between solar wind protons and lunar crustal magnetic anomalies, and the interaction between solar wind protons and lunar regolith. 3. Object-plasma interaction in the vicinity of Enceladus
Sammanfattning : The Cassini spacecraft orbits Saturn since 2004, carrying a multitude of instruments for studies of the plasma environment around the planet as well as the constituents of the ring system. Of particular interest to the present thesis is the large E ring, which consists mainly of water ice grains, smaller than a few micrometres, referred to as dust. LÄS MER
4. Plasma Interactions with Icy Bodies in the Solar System
Sammanfattning : Here I study the “plasma interactions with icy bodies in the solar system”, that is, my quest to understand the fundamental processes that govern such interactions. By using numerical modelling combined with in situ observations, one can infer the internal structure of icy bodies and their plasma environments. LÄS MER
5. Celestial Orientation in Dim Light
Sammanfattning : The polarization pattern of skylight offers many animals a reference for visual compass orientation. In those cases when this optical compass is identified, the receptors involved are often confined to a small part of an eye built predominantly for other visual tasks. LÄS MER
