  1. 11. LRIG1 in lung cancer : prognostic effects and mechanistic studies

    Författare :Samuel Kvarnbrink; Mikael Johansson; Håkan Hedman; Odd Terje Brustugun; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; lung cancer; metastasis; prognosis; LRIG1; LRIG3; LMO7; LIMCH1; Oncology; onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide as well as in Sweden. Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the predominant form, which is largely subdivided into adenocarcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Mesenchymal heterogeneity in the adult human lung

    Författare :Måns Kadefors; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Lung; Extracellular matrix; Adventitia; Fibroblast; mesenchymal cell; Alveolar epithelial cell; Fibrosis; Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis; Mass spectrometry; RNA-sequencing;

    Sammanfattning : The human lung is a complex tissue consisting of a heterogeneous mix of different structures and cells, each which a specific role that together contribute to the primary function of the organ: the gas exchange. Different mesenchymal cells populate the interstitial areas around airways and blood vessels and form the connective tissue together with the extracellular matrix. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Lung diseases continue to present a large burden to public health, especially in industrialized countries. For abetter understanding of the underlying patho-mechanisms in lung related diseases as well as for testing theefficacy of novel therapies, preclinical studies in animal models are indispensable. 4. 14. FRC in acute lung injury. Experimental and clinical studies

    Författare :Christian Rylander; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Airway obstruction; Acute lung injury; Acute respiratory distress syndrome; Attenuation; Computed tomography; End-expiratory lung volume; Functional residual capacity; Gas dilution; Hounsfield unit; Lung volume; Oleic acid; Recruitment; Time constant;

    Sammanfattning : Respiratory failure due to acute lung injury (ALI) of diffuse inflammatory origin is a major cause of respiratory failure treated in intensive care units. In ALI, FRC is reduced by various mechanisms associated with hypoxemia and consolidation of the lung. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Lung hyaluronan and lung water in the perinatal period

    Författare :Hans Johnsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Obstetrics and gynaecology; antenatal corticosteroids; antenatal terbutaline; hyaluronan; hyperoxia; lung water; perinatal period; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar; Obstetrics and women s diseases; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar; pediatrik; Pediatrics;

    Sammanfattning : Hyaluronan is an important component of the lung extracellular matrix, with a high capacity for water immobilization, but information on perinatal changes in the lung hyaluronan concentration and their association with changes in the lung water content is limited. In this study, conducted both in rabbit pups and in human infants, we investigated changes in the hyaluronan concentration and distribution in the lung and in the lung water content after preterm or term birth, and changes produced by common antenatal and postnatal pathological conditions and treatments.
