  1. 1. Quantification of pulmonary scintigraphy

    Författare :Jiahua Xu; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Emphysema; Inhomogeneity; Perfusion; scintigraphy; SPECT; 99mTc-Technegas; Ventilation; V Q;

    Sammanfattning : Modern nuclear medicine techniques, such as SPECT (single photon emission computed tomography), enable quantification and localisation of lung function in small lung elements, but appropriate methods are not yet available. The aim of the present project was therefore to develop and evaluate methods for mapping lung function in planar scintigrams and in SPECT. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Tomographic ventilation-perfusion lung scintigraphy in cardiopulmonary disease

    Författare :Jonas Jögi; Lund Klinisk fysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Technegas; Ventilation-Perfusion Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography; Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; Heart failure; Pulmonary embolism;

    Sammanfattning : Respiration relies, among other things, on the balance between regional ventilation and perfusion in the lungs. There are many cardiopulmonary diseases, such as pulmonary embolism (PE), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and left heart failure (LHF), which can affect respiration negatively. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Nuclear medicine imaging of lung cancer and esophagus cancer

    Författare :Gunnar Herlin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Lung cancer;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Somatostatin receptors (SSTRs) occur in cancer tissue, and 99mTc-depreotide is a labelled somatostatin receptor analogue, binding to SSTRs subtype 2, 3, and 5. Purpose: The general aim of the present thesis was to study somatostatin receptor scintigraphy (SSTRS) with 99mTc-depreotide in the diagnosis and characterization of cancers in the lung and oesophagus. 4. 4. Deposition and absorption of inhaled drugs

    Författare :Eva Bondesson; Malmö Klinisk fysiologi och nuklearmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; tomografi; radiologi; Klinisk fysiologi; medical instrumentation; tomography; radiology; Clinical physics; technetium-99m; radionuclide imaging; radioactive aerosol; powder inhaler; pharmacokinetics; mucociliary clearance; lung deposition; gamma scintigraphy; inhalation; deposition modelling; drug absorption; absorption enhancer; aerosol; medicinsk instrumentering; Physiology; Fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Main objectives of this thesis were to evaluate a gamma scintigraphic method used to quantify drug aerosol deposition in the lung, to investigate the influence of two aerosol inhalation parameters on the distribution of inhaled dry powder within the airways, to assess pulmonary absorption kinetics and bioavailability of an inhaled hydrophilic solute in relation to site of deposition, and to assess the influence of a surface active agent (sodium taurocholate, a bile salt) on the deposition and absorption of an inhaled hydrophilic solute. Repeated planar gamma scintigraphy was found to provide the same information on total pulmonary drug deposition as an independent method that involved assessments of urinary drug recovery after blockage of gastrointestinal drug absorption when all of the critical parts of the methodological procedures were accurately and meticulously executed. 5. 5. Neonatal resuscitation - studies in piglets

    Författare :Rikard Linnér; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Newborn resuscitation; birth asphyxia; cerebral oxygenation; adrenaline; noradrenaline; severe hypoventilation; surfactant; nebulisation; vibrating mesh nebuliser. CPAP; lung deposition; lung distribution.;

    Sammanfattning : Background and aims: “It’s best to start with air” states the current guidelines on the resuscitation of babies at birth. In a piglet model mimicking severe neonatal asphyxia and circulatory arrest, different aspects of resuscitation were investigated (studies I-III). LÄS MER
