  1. 21. Transpulmonary pressure during mechanical ventilation

    Författare :Christina Grivans; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Mechanical ventilation; Acute lung injury; Acute respiratory distress syndrome; Lung volume measurements; Electric Impedance diagnostic use; Lung elastance; Transpulmonary pressure; Esophageal pressure;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Mechanical ventilation can aggravate lung injury by repetitive opening and closing of lung units, overdistention and undue pressure on pulmonary structures. Guidelines exist for lung protective ventilation, but individualized ventilator settings, based on partitioning of respiratory mechanics in pulmonary and chest wall complex components, would be beneficial. 2. 22. On the forced oscillation lung function test and its design for use in children

    Författare :Per-Håkan Aronsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; forced oscilliation; respiratory mechanics; averaging; lung function test; least squares method; respiratory resistance; upper airway shunting; respiratory reactance; frequency dependence of resistance;

  3. 23. Lung and chest wall properties during mechanical ventilation

    Författare :Per Erik Persson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Mechanical ventilation; Respiratory mechanics; Esophageal pressure; Positive end-expiratory pressure;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Mechanical ventilation causes injury to the lungs due to high pressures and high volumes. Pressure affecting the lungs, the transpulmonary pressure, needs to be monitored to minimise harmful side effects but then lung and chest wall mechanics need to be separately considered. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Evaluation of Respiratory Mechanics by Flow Signal Analysis : With Emphasis on Detecting Partial Endotracheal Tube Obstruction During Mechanical Ventilation

    Författare :Rafael Kawati; Michael Lichtwarck-Aschoff; Ulf Sjöstrand; Anders Larsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anaesthesiology and intensive care; Complication: obstructed endotracheal tube; Equipment:endotracheal tube; Heart: cardiogenic oscillation; Respiratory mechanics: respiratory mechanics; Ventilation: controlled mechanical; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthetics and intensive care; Anestesiologi och intensivvård;

    Sammanfattning : Evaluating respiratory mechanics during dynamic conditions without interrupting ongoing ventilation and flow, adds to the information obtained from the mechanics derived from static (= no flow) conditions, i.e., the flow signal has the potential to provide information on the properties of the respiratory system (including the tubing system).
