1. Integrated Lumped Element and Ferroelectrically Tunable Microwave Components
Sammanfattning : This thesis treats the development of passive circuits for increased integrationlevel in microwave front-ends. The subject is approached from twodifferent directions. On the one hand, emerging materials for microwaveintegrated circuits are studied. On the other hand, novel circuit topologiesare synthesized. LÄS MER
2. Three-wave mixing in Josephson travelling-wave parametric amplifiers
Sammanfattning : This work explores possibilities of building a wide-band, quantum-limited low-noise amplifier by means of three-wave mixing (3WM) in different kinds of Josephson travelling-wave parametric amplifiers (TWPAs). We extend the theory of the continuous three-mode model to include any number of up-converted modes in the small frequency limit where the frequency dispersion is close to linear. LÄS MER
3. A lumped element transformer model including core losses and winding impedances
Sammanfattning : In order to design a power transformer it is important to understand its internal electromagnetic behaviour. That can be obtained by measurements on physical transformers, analytical expressions and computer simulations. LÄS MER
4. System-in-a-Package on Low-Cost Liquid Crystal Polymer Substrate
Sammanfattning : System-in-a-Package (SiP) is one of the most advanced approaches to meet the requirements for future high-density electronics packaging. In this thesis, a 3D system-in-a-package concept with embedded active and passive components is proposed, where a liquid crystal polymer (LCP) was used as the base substrate. LÄS MER
5. THz Vector Beam Measurement System for APEX Instrument SHeFI and Microwave Cryogenic Low Noise Amplifier Design
Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis describes results of the author’s work on development of THz vector beam measurement system and microwave cryogenic low-noise amplifier. The first part, and the main focus, of the thesis covers the vector beam measurement system for frequency range 210-500 GHz developed to characterize/verify the cold opticsof the APEX instrument SHeFI.
