  1. 1. On lumbar spine stabilization

    Författare :Paul Axelsson; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kirurgi; orthopaedics; traumatology; Surgery; lumbar orthosis.; external pedicular fixation; adjacent segment; intervertebral mobility; Posterolateral lumbar fusion; roentgen stereophotogrammetric analysis; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : 71 consecutive posterolateral lumbar fusions without decompression or internal fixation were evaluated with a mean follow-up time of 3.5 (2-7) years. The diagnoses were spondylolysis-olisthesis in 43 cases, degenerative disc disease and/or facet joint arthrosis in 16 cases and pain post laminectomy/ decompression in 12 cases. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Lumbar spinal stenosis : Body mass index and the patient's perspective

    Författare :Björn Knutsson; Karl Michaëlsson; Bengt Sandén; Göran Sjödén; Paul Gerdhem; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Antonovsky; back pain; BMI; body mass index; Bygghalsan; cohort study; coping; EQ-5D; excess weight; leg pain; LSS; lumbar spinal stenosis; obesity; ODI Oswestry disability index; overweight; patient-centered; patient-physician relationship; patient-perspective; patient-related-outcome-measure; PROMs; qualitative study; spinal stenosis; salutogenesis; salutogenic; sciatica; spine surgery; suffering; Swedish spine register; Swespine; VAS; weight loss; weight change; Orthopaedics; Ortopedi;

    Sammanfattning : During recent decades, lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) has become the most common indication for spine surgery, a change that coincides with a higher worldwide prevalence of overweight and obesity. Thus, surgical treatment of LSS in the overweight and obese population is common and increasing in scope. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Outcome Assessment in Lumbar Spine Surgery

    Författare :Gustavo Zanoli; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; traumatologi; Surgery; Skeleton; muscle system; rheumatology locomotion; Skelett; muskelsystem; reumatologi; Spinal stenosis; Disc; Questionnaire; Outcome assessment; Lumbar spine; Kirurgi; traumatology; orthopaedics; ortopedi;

    Sammanfattning : No consensus regarding outcomes assessment in spine patients exists. Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) questionnaires are increasingly used. The objective of this thesis was the evaluation of HRQoL measures before and after lumbar spine surgery, and their relation to other evaluation parameters as well as relevance of differences. 4. 4. Low-dose computed tomography of the abdomen and lumbar spine

    Författare :Muhammed Alshamari; Håkan Geijer; Seppo Koskinen; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Tomography; X-Ray Computed; Radiography; Radiation Dosage; Abdomen; Spine; Lumbosacral Region; Regression Analysis; Kirurgi; Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Radiography is a common radiologic investigation despite abundant evidence of its limited diagnostic value. On the other hand, computed tomography (CT) has a high diagnostic value and is widely considered to be among the most important advances in medicine. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Measurement of outcome in lumbar spine surgery : Validity and interpretability of frequently used outcome measures in the Swespine register

    Författare :Catharina Parai; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; spine register; disc herniation; spinal stenosis; degenerative disc disorder; patient-reported outcome measure; Global Assessment; minimal important change; smallest detectable change; retest reliability; non-response to follow-up; attrition; measurement of change;

    Sammanfattning : BACKGROUND. The purpose of elective lumbar spine surgery is mainly to reduce pain and to improve physical function and quality of life. The quality and results of the interventions are monitored in the Swedish spine register, Swespine. LÄS MER
