  1. 1. Silicon Germanium heterojunction bipolar transistors : Large-signal modeling and low-frequency noise characterization aspects

    Författare :Staffan Bruce; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; Materials science; Silicon Germanium; SiGe; Heterojunction Bipolar Transistor; HBT; Large-signal modeling; thermal time constant; low-frequency noise: coherence; transimpedance amplifier; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Elektronik; Electronics;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, aspects of the Silicon Germanium (SiGe) Heterojunction Bipolar Transistor (HBT) are addressed. A physics-based electrical large-signal model including thermal dependence has been developed and is implemented using a commercially available simulator package. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Superinductance and fluctuating two-level systems: Loss and noise in disordered and non-disordered superconducting quantum devices

    Författare :David Niepce; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Superconducting circuits; Superinductance; Disordered Superconductors; Quantum information; Superinductor; Two-level Systems; Nanowire; TLS;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we first demonstrate that a disordered superconductor with high kinetic inductance can realise a microwave low-loss, non-dissipative circuit element with impedance greater than the quantum resistance. This element, known as a superinductor, can suppress the fluctuations of charge in a quantum circuit. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Tree-rings and climate - Standardization, proxy-development, and Fennoscandian summer temperature history

    Författare :Jesper Björklund; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :Tree rings; Fennoscandia; summer temperature; maximum latewood density MXD ; blue intensity BI ; standardization;

    Sammanfattning : Instrumental meteorological observation are too short for trying to estimate climate change and variability on multi-decadal and centennial time-scales, and when trying to evaluate the response of the climate system to human influence, such as raised concentrations of green house gases (GHG), altered land-use, black carbon etc. To access information about the climate system predating instrumental observations, reliable proxy records (natural archives) are necessary.
