  1. 1. Low-Carbon City Initiatives in China : Planning Approaches, Dilemmas and Opportunities

    Författare :Guanghong Zhou; Björn Frostell; Karel Mulder; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Low-carbon city; Urban planning; Metabolic approach; Industrial Ecology; Industriell ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : In order to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, tackle climate change and move toward sustainable development, the central government in China has proposed low-carbon city development as the national strategy and relevant initiatives have been taken by local governments. This thesis analyses current low-carbon city programmes and planning approaches in China, identifies limitations and proposes a metabolic approach that could be used to account for physical resources, monitor GHG emissions and involve stakeholders in the planning process. 2. 2. Perspectives on low carbon lifestyles

    Författare :David Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; GHG emissions; climate change; satisfaction with travel scale; sustainable consumption; materialistic values; air travel; rebound effect.; congestion charge; households; subjective well-being;

    Sammanfattning : Climate change is one of the most severe problems facing the world today. If extensive measures are not undertaken to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions within the near future, the natural conditions under which life depends will change for the worse (Pachauri et al, 2014). 3. 3. Exploring the Transition to a Low-Carbon Electricity System — Using Agent-Based Modeling

    Författare :Jinxi Yang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; investment decisions; agent-based modeling; energy system modeling; open-source model; electricity market; low-carbon transition;

    Sammanfattning : The ability to produce electricity has profoundly shaped human lives. Over time, the sources used for electricity generation have undergone several transitions. Currently, we are navigating a pivotal shift in the electricity system – decarbonization – a journey fraught with a myriad of challenges. LÄS MER

  4. 4. From Sweden to the world: Analysis of future low-carbon electricity systems

    Författare :Xiaoming Kan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; super grid; energy system modeling; net system cost; renewable energy potential; low-carbon electricity system; nuclear power; demand pattern; electric cooling;

    Sammanfattning : The increasing urgency of addressing climate change, along with the sustained cost declines in wind and solar power, has led to a rapid expansion in their deployment to decarbonize the electricity sector. In cost-optimal scenarios for future low-carbon electricity systems, wind and solar often serve as the cornerstone of electricity supply. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Exploring the future low-carbon electricity system: impacts of nuclear power and demand patterns

    Författare :Xiaoming Kan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
