1. Tribology of self-lubricating polymer composites for hydropower applications
Sammanfattning : The ongoing global climate crisis and its impacts calls for urgent actions, such as significant reduction of CO2 emissions by introducing more renewable energy. This has led to a rapid integration of variable power sources, such as wind and solar power, into the electricity systems. LÄS MER
2. Workpiece steels protecting cutting tools from wear : A study of the effects of alloying elements on material transfer and coating damage mechanisms
Sammanfattning : The vision of this thesis is to improve the machinability of workpiece steels. Workpiece material frequently transfers to the cutting tools during machining, and the transfer layers then forming on the tools may give both good and bad effects on machining performance and tool life. 3. Performance analysis of a low-speed high-torque hydrostatic transmission unit
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns a study of the performance of an industrial low-speed high-torque hydrostatic drive system. This type of hydrostatic transmission is commonly used in continuous operation in a wide range of heavy-duty drive applications. In many applications the transmissions have to compete with e.g. LÄS MER
4. On the processing of starch consolidated high speed steel - Microstructure and tribological properties
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on processing of high speed steel (HSS) powder into components using starch consolidation (SC) and supersolidus liquid phase sintering (SLPS). The work consists of four parts. First, the possibilities and constrains of the SC process are investigated and the role of starch in the green body fabrication clarified. LÄS MER
5. Lubrication of elastohydrodynamic contacts, mainly concerning low temperature
Sammanfattning : The limiting shear stress coefficient has been studied in a impacting ball apparatus for four different lubricating oils at -30ºC and 20ºC. The results show that the most interesting effects are; oil type, maximum contact pressure, temperature, and the interaction between the above mentioned parameters. LÄS MER
