11. Model-Based Optimization of Combustion-Engine Control
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis is motivated by the need to reliably operate a compression-ignition engine in a partially premixed combustion (PPC) mode. Partially premixed combustion is a low temperature combustion concept, where the ignition delay is prolonged to enhance fuel-air mixing in the combustion chamber before the start of combustion. 12. Continuous-Time Delta-Sigma Modulators for Wireless Communication
Sammanfattning : The ever increasing data rates in wireless communication require analog to digital converters (ADCs) with greater requirements on speed and accuracy, while being power efficient to prolong battery life. This dissertation contains an introduction to the field and five papers that focus on the continuous-time (CT) Delta-Sigma modulator (DSM) as ADC. LÄS MER
13. On PLL Modeling and Design in Nanometer‐Scale CMOS
Sammanfattning : Integrated circuits play a vital role in our everyday lives, from wireless gadgets and multimedia players to sensors and processors that control vital infrastructure. Since most electronic circuits need a clean, stable clock or carrier to function, one of the most important components of integrated circuits is the phase-locked loop. LÄS MER
14. Closing the Loop by Combining UASB Reactor and Reactive Bed Filetr Technology for wastewater Treatment : Modelling and Practical Approaches
Sammanfattning : A laboratory-scale upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor followed by a packed bed reactor (PBR) filled with Sorbulite® in the lower part and Polonite® in the upper part was used to treat household wastewater in a 50-week experiment. A model was developed to describe the performance of the UASB reactor, including mass transfer through the film around anaerobic granules, intra-particle diffusion and bioconversion of the substrate. 15. Design Space Exploration of Digital Circuits for Ultra-low Energy Dissipation
Sammanfattning : The ever expanding market of ultra portable electronic products is compelling the designer to invest major efforts in the development of small and low energy electronic devices. The driving force and benefactors of such devices are (but not limited to) e-health system, sensor network applications, security systems, environmental applications, and home automation systems.
