  1. 21. Inflammatory Markers, Respiratory Diseases, Lung Function and Associated Gender Differences

    Författare :Inga Sif Ólafsdóttir; Christer Janson; Anders Blomberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; C-reactive protein; matrix metalloproteinase-9; tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1; COPD; FEV1; FVC; lung function; systemic inflammation; gender differences; Lungmedicin; Lung Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Systemic inflammation is associated with impaired lung function. Inflammation is part of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), but the local and systemic inflammatory pattern differs. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Effect of valve replacement for aortic stenosis on ventricular function

    Författare :Ying Zhao; Michael Henein; Per Lindqvist; Eugenio Picano; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Aortic stenosis; aortic valve replacement; echocardiography; speckle tracking; exercise echocardiography; ventricular function; septal radial motion; twist; displacement; strain; strain rate;

    Sammanfattning : Background:Aortic stenosis (AS) is the commonest valve disease in the West. Aortic valve replacement (AVR) remains the only available management for AS and results in improved symptoms and recovery of ventricular functions. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Long-term outcome of children with cerebral palsy undergoing selective dorsal rhizotomy

    Författare :Annika Lundkvist; Människan i rörelse: hälsa och rehabilitering; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; selective dorsal rhizotomy; outcomes; long-term follow-up; Cerebral palsy; children; function; physiotherapy;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the thesis was to describe long-term development of functional outcomes in children with cerebral palsy undergoing selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) combined with physiotherapy and to evaluate measures used in follow-up. Five years after SDR muscle tone was reduced, passive range of motion (PROM) increased in hip, knee and foot, gross motor function measured by the Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM) improved as well as functional performance and independence by the Pediatric Evaluation Disability Inventory. 4. 24. Fractionated irradiation of salivary glands : loss and protection of function

    Författare :Ulrika Funegård; Thorild Ericson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Irradiation; salivary glands; saliva composition; antioxidants; radioprotection;

    Sammanfattning : Radiotherapy of malignancies in the head and neck often involves the major and minor salivary glands in the radiation field. Adverse effects, such as dry mouth symptoms, are common after such therapy. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Three-dimensional assessment of cardiac function; When right is wrong

    Författare :Ellen Ostenfeld; Lund Klinisk fysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Key words Three-dimensional echocardiography; cardiac magnetic resonance imaging; cardiac function; volumes; atria; ventricles; pulmonary hypertension; right heart catheterization; right ventricular pressure load.;

    Sammanfattning : Assessment of the right side of the heart is important in patients with heart disease; especially in patient with elevated pressure in the lung circulation. Decreased right ventricular function and elevated pressure in the right atrium are of poor prognostic value. LÄS MER
