6. Regional Nutrient Budgets in Forest Soils in a Policy Perspective
Sammanfattning : Sweden's forests are one of its most important natural resources, as well as being important from ecological and social perspectives. Nutrient sustainability is essential to maintain the production capacity and reduce the effects of acidification and eutrophication. LÄS MER
7. Influence of Sea Surface Temperature on Rainfall and Runof in Northeastern South America: Analysis and Modeling
Sammanfattning : This work represents an amalgam of a group of studies with the purpose of understanding the influence of the Pacific and Atlantic sea surface temperature on precipitation and river discharge in Northeastern South America. Sea surface temperature is a good representative of phenomena such as ENSO that, in turn, cause worldwide climate variability. LÄS MER
8. Permafrost carbon in a changing Arctic : On periglacial landscape dynamics, organic matter characteristics, and the stability of a globally significant carbon pool
Sammanfattning : Organic matter (OM) in arctic permafrost ground contains about twice as much carbon (C) as is currently present in the atmosphere. Climate change is particularly strong in the Arctic, and could cause a considerable part of the OM in permafrost to thaw out, decompose, and be released as greenhouse gases; further enhancing global warming. 9. The Littorina transgression in southeastern Sweden and its relation to mid-Holocene climate variability
Sammanfattning : Lateglacial and Holocene shoreline displacement along the Baltic coast resulted from both the isostatic land uplift and the ice-volume-equivalent sea-level rise. Relative changes of these two components led to alternating contact/isolation of the Baltic Basin with the North Sea during the Holocene. LÄS MER
10. Geomorphology and environmental dynamics in Save River delta, Mozambique : A cross-timescale perspective
Sammanfattning : Long-term perspectives on the evolution of river deltas have provided useful knowledge capable of responding to pending questions related to the ongoing climate and environmental changes. Increasing utilization pressure on delta environments has necessitated increased attention to protect the socio-economic and ecological values. LÄS MER
