  1. 1. Quasi-instantaneous and Long-term Deformations of High-Performance Concrete with Some Related Properties

    Författare :Bertil Persson; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Shrinkage; Relative humidity; Long-term; Hydration; High-Performance Concrete; Elastic modulus; Deformations; Creep; Concrete; Cement; Quasi-instantaneous; Strength; Building construction; Byggnadsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This report outlines an experimental and numerical study on quasi-instantaneous and long-term deformations of High-Performance Concrete, HPC, with some related properties. For this purpose about two hundred small cylinders and about one thousand cubes of eight types of HPC were cast. The age at loading varied between 18h and 28 days. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Moisture-induced stress and distortion of wood : A numerical and experimental study of wood's drying and long-term behaviour

    Författare :Sara Florisson; Sigurdur Ormarsson; Johan Vessby; Kent Persson; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; analytical method; calibration; controlled climate; creep; distortion; experimental methodology; FEM; fibre orientation; mechano-sorption; moisture transport; natural climate; Norway spruce; numerical model; three-dimensional; timber beam; validation; wood; Byggteknik; Civil engineering; Forestry and Wood Technology; Skog och träteknik;

    Sammanfattning : With the current advances made in three-dimensional modelling of wood, it is possible to provide an overall picture of moisture flow, and moisture-induced stress and deformations, whereas previously, experiments only provided local measurements. The main aim of the doctoral thesis is to investigate the possibilities of the developed three-dimensional numerical model to predict the behaviour of wood when simultaneously exposed to a mechanical load and a particular climate. 3. 3. Durability of District Heating Pipes

    Författare :Stefan Forsaeus Nilsson; RISE; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; reuse of excavated material; district heating pipe; moisture diffusion; pipe joint; stone indentation; polyurethane foam; polyethylene; district heat distribution; long-term strength; buried pipe;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is focused on mechanical loads and moisture related problems with a potential to critically harm the functionality of pre-insulated district heating pipes and pipe joints. Directly buried pipeline bends are investigated with respect to limiting deformations from a thermally induced lateral displacement. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Design for Serviceability - A probabilistic approach

    Författare :Daniel Honfi; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; design codes; long-term deflections; structural reliability; serviceability;

    Sammanfattning : In many design situations the acceptable performance of structures is defined by serviceability requirements. To estimate the probability of serviceability failure three main design aspects should be considered: (1) the relevant exposures, (2) the structural response and (3) the performance criteria. 5. 5. Wood Plastic Composites made from Modified Wood : Aspects on Moisture Sorption, Micromorphology and Durability

    Författare :Kristoffer Segerholm; Ove Söderström; Magnus Wålinder; Mats Westin; Pia Larsson Brelid; Per Johan Gustafsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Wood plastic composites; WPC; acetylation; heat treatment; furfurylation; moisture sorption; micromorphology; decay; UV laser; soil test; Biomaterials; Biomaterial;

    Sammanfattning : Wood plastic composite (WPC) materials have seen a continuous market growth worldwide in the last decade. So-called extruded WPC profiles are today mainly used in outdoor applications, e.g. decking, railing and fencing. LÄS MER
