  1. 1. Localised corrosion and atmospheric corrosion of stainless steels

    Författare :Sukanya Hägg Mameng; Rachel Pettersson; Christopher Leygraf; Thomas Ladwein; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; stainless steel; localised corrosion; atmospheric corrosion; alloy composition; surface finish; surface roughness; surface treatment; surface orientation; contamination; chloride; sulphate; temperature; chlorination; exposure conditions.; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : This research is focused on defining limiting conditions for corrosion of stainless steels. The aim of the first part (Papers I-IV) was to understand the role of alloying level and environmental parameters on localised corrosion in aqueous conditions. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Copper (Cu) has been utilised by humans for millenniums and has become an indispensable metal in modern industry and in our infrastructure. However, corrosion, as a natural process for metallic materials, takes place on copper surfaces in most environments. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Influence of hydrogen on corrosion and stress induced cracking of stainless steel

    Författare :Ulf Kivisäkk; Christofer Leygraf; Roy Johnsen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hydrogen; corrosion; hydrogen embrittlement; stainless steels; uniform corrosion; activation; dewpoint corrosion; low temperature creep; plastic deformation; microhardness; Surface and colloid chemistry; Yt- och kolloidkemi;

    Sammanfattning : Hydrogen is the smallest element in the periodical table. It has been shown in several studies that hydrogen has a large influence on the corrosion and cracking behaviour of stainless steels. Hydrogen is involved in several of the most common cathode reactions during corrosion and can also cause embrittlement in many stainless steels. LÄS MER

  5. 5. High temperature corrosion during waste incineration : characterisation, causes and prevention of chlorine-induced corrosion

    Författare :Peter Viklund; Christofer Leygraf; Jan Froitzheim; Staffan Hertzman; Sweden Stockholm Swerea KIMAB AB; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; high temperature corrosion; waste incineration; superheater tubing; steel; alkali; chlorine; suphur; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Waste-fired boilers suffer severely from corrosion of critical components such as superheater tubes. In this work the high temperature corrosion of candidate superheater alloys have been investigated by detailed laboratory studies and controlled field exposures in full-scale boilers. LÄS MER
