1. Computerised Three-Dimensional Analysis of Optic Nerve Head Topography in Normal and Glaucomatous Eyes
Sammanfattning : Evaluation of the optic nerve head topography is one of the most important methods to diagnose and monitor patients with glaucoma. Until recently, optic nerve head topography has most often been judged by either ophthalmoscopy or from optic disc photographs. LÄS MER
2. Structural changes during cellulose composite processing
Sammanfattning : Two approaches for creating a new all-cellulose composite material have been studied: the biosynthesis of compartmentalised bacterial cellulose fibril aggregates and the compression moulding of commercial chemical wood pulps processed with only water. The objective was to study the structural changes during processing and the complexity of relating the mechanical properties of the final biocomposites to the nanoscale structure was highlighted. 3. Beam Momentum Changes due to Discharges in High-gradient Accelerator Structures
Sammanfattning : The key questions left unanswered by the Standard Model, and the recent discovery of a Standard Model-like Higgs boson, demand an extension of the research on particle physics to the TeV energy scale. The Compact Linear Collider, CLIC, is a candidate project to achieve such goal. LÄS MER
4. High strain rate deformation of Alloy 718, Influence of Microstructure on Mechanical Properties
Sammanfattning : Alloy 718 is a high temperature alloy, used where high temperature strength or oxidation resistance is required. As the alloy is precipitate heat treatable, it is possible to have a large variety of deformation and mechanical properties depending on microstructure. LÄS MER
5. Multistage gearboxes : vibration based quality control
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, vibration based techniques for detection of localised surface damages in multistage gearboxes are presented and evaluated. A modern vehicle gearbox is a complex system and the number of potential errors is large. For instance, surface damages can be caused by rough handling during assembly. LÄS MER
