  1. 11. Investigation into sustainable energy systems in Nordic municipalities

    Författare :Robert Fischer; Andrea Toffolo; Erik Elfgren; Danica Djuric Ilic; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Renewable energy sources; Nordic municipalities; municipal energy system; electrified transport; biofuels; multi-objective optimization; EnergyPLAN; Energiteknik; Energy Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Municipal energy systems in Nordic environments face multiple challenges: the cold climate, large-scale industries, a high share of electric heating and long distances drive energy consumption. While actions on the demand side minimize energy use, decarbonization efforts in mining, industries, the heating and the transport sector can increase the consumption of electricity and biofuels. 2. 12. Utilisation of Excess Heat Towards a Circular Economy : Implications of interorganisational collaborations and strategic planning

    Författare :Sofia Päivärinne; Olof Hjelm; Sara Gustafsson; Jenny Ivner; Kes McCormik; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : In order to significantly lower the environmental impact from human activities, numerous efforts and approaches related to the transformation of human activities have developed during the last decades. Examples of such efforts are policies and strategies at different levels, some with a top-down approach focusing on extensive institutional changes, and some with a bottom-up approach focusing on industrial actors and industry-led activities. 3. 13. Mobility Management and Climate Change Policies

    Författare :Markus Robèrt; Folke Snickars; Tom Rye; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Strategic Sustainable Development SSD ; Backcasting; Greenhouse gas emissions; Traffic planning; Company travel planning; Mobility Management; Civil engineering and architecture; Samhällsbyggnadsteknik och arkitektur;

    Sammanfattning : Globally, the transport system faces a paradigmatic shift where, in addition to increased local traffic problems, climate change and depletion of fossil oil reserves will foster a successive transition to renewable fuels and a need for more resource-efficient mobility management and communication alternatives. Foresighted countries, cities or companies taking the lead in adapting to these tougher conditions might well not only solve those problems, but also turn the problems into business advantages. 4. 14. Process integration in the steel industry : possibilities to analyse energy use and environmental impacts for an integrated steel mill

    Författare :Mikael Larsson; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : There is a growing awareness of serious problems associated with the use of energy. These problems include local and global environmental degradation associated with energy use and depletion of resources. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Low-Carbon City Initiatives in China : Planning Approaches, Dilemmas and Opportunities

    Författare :Guanghong Zhou; Björn Frostell; Karel Mulder; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Low-carbon city; Urban planning; Metabolic approach; Industrial Ecology; Industriell ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : In order to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, tackle climate change and move toward sustainable development, the central government in China has proposed low-carbon city development as the national strategy and relevant initiatives have been taken by local governments. This thesis analyses current low-carbon city programmes and planning approaches in China, identifies limitations and proposes a metabolic approach that could be used to account for physical resources, monitor GHG emissions and involve stakeholders in the planning process.
