1. Chemical signalling in the Drosophila brain : GABA, short neuropeptide F and their receptors
Sammanfattning : Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and short neuropeptide F (sNPF) are widespread signalling molecules in the brain of insects. In order to understand more about the signalling and to some extent start to unravel the functional roles of these two substances, this study has examined the locations of the transmitters and their receptors in the brain of the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster using immunocytochemistry in combination with Gal4/UAS technique. 2. Perceived Self-image, Intellectual Ability, Frontal Lobe Function, and Perceived Ward Atmosphere among Patients with Psychosis
Sammanfattning : These studies were conducted at the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Unit (PRU), characterised by a supportive ego-strenghtening psychodynamic approach. The general aim of the thesis was to study how intellectual ability and perceived self-image were related to perceived ward atmosphere among patients with psychosis. LÄS MER
3. Reliability of visual assessment of medial temporal lobe atrophy
Sammanfattning : Background: Medial temporal lobe atrophy (MTA) has been found to be an early sign of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Visual assessment of MTA (vaMTA) is a rapid, cost-efficient and clinically adaptable visual interpretation method for rating MTA, based on coronal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans. LÄS MER
4. Mind your Language, All Right? Performance-dependent neural patterns of language
Sammanfattning : The main aim of this dissertation was to investigate the difference in neural language patternsrelated to language ability in healthy adults. The focus lies on unraveling the contributions of theright‐hemispheric homologues to Broca’s area in the inferior frontal gyrus (IFG) and Wernicke’s areain the posterior temporal and inferior parietal lobes. 5. Imaging the pancreas : new aspects on lobular development and adult constitution
Sammanfattning : The mouse pancreas is a mixed exocrine and endocrine glandconsisting of three lobular compartments: the splenic, duodenal and gastric lobes. During embryogenesis, the pancreas forms from two progenitor populations located on the dorsal and ventral side of the primitive gut tube. LÄS MER
