  1. 1. Chemical signalling in the Drosophila brain : GABA, short neuropeptide F and their receptors

    Författare :Lina E. Enell; Dick Nässel; Jonathan Bacon; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Insect nervous system; Drosophila; GABA; sNPF; GPCR; ion channel receptor; feeding; metabolic stress; olfaction; antennal; lobe; mushroom body; Morphology; Morfologi; funktionell morfologi; Functional Zoomorphology;

    Sammanfattning : Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and short neuropeptide F (sNPF) are widespread signalling molecules in the brain of insects. In order to understand more about the signalling and to some extent start to unravel the functional roles of these two substances, this study has examined the locations of the transmitters and their receptors in the brain of the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster using immunocytochemistry in combination with Gal4/UAS technique. 2. 2. Perceived Self-image, Intellectual Ability, Frontal Lobe Function, and Perceived Ward Atmosphere among Patients with Psychosis

    Författare :Jan-Åke Jansson; Institutionen för psykologi; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Psychiatry; clinical psychology; psychosomatics; WAIS-R; SASB; rCBF; COPES; ward atmosphere; self-image; self-control; schizophrenia; psychoses; Frontal lobe function; intelligence; klinisk psykologi; psykosomatik; Psykiatri;

    Sammanfattning : These studies were conducted at the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Unit (PRU), characterised by a supportive ego-strenghtening psychodynamic approach. The general aim of the thesis was to study how intellectual ability and perceived self-image were related to perceived ward atmosphere among patients with psychosis. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Reliability of visual assessment of medial temporal lobe atrophy

    Författare :Lena Cavallin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Medial temporal lobe atrophy (MTA) has been found to be an early sign of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Visual assessment of MTA (vaMTA) is a rapid, cost-efficient and clinically adaptable visual interpretation method for rating MTA, based on coronal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Mind your Language, All Right? Performance-dependent neural patterns of language

    Författare :Helene van Ettinger-Veenstra; Maria Engström; Peter Lundberg; Thomas Karlsson; Anita McAllister; Karsten Specht; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Language ability; performance; fMRI; functional magnetic resonance imaging; Broca; Wernicke; temporal lobe; inferior frontal gyrus; reading; fluency; lateralization; lateralisation; right hemisphere; performance-dependent; neural activation;

    Sammanfattning : The main aim of this dissertation was to investigate the difference in neural language patternsrelated to language ability in healthy adults. The focus lies on unraveling the contributions of theright‐hemispheric homologues to Broca’s area in the inferior frontal gyrus (IFG) and Wernicke’s areain the posterior temporal and inferior parietal lobes. Författare :Andreas Hörnblad; Ulf Ahlgren; Guy Rutter; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 1 diabetes; ß-cell mass; tertiary lymphoid organs; biomedical imaging; optical projection tomography; morphogenesis; pancreas development; gastric lobe; spleen development.; medicinsk genetik; Medical Genetics; medicinsk utvecklings- och neurobiologi; Developmental Neurosciences; molekylär medicin genetik och patologi ; molecular medicine  genetics and pathology ;

    Sammanfattning : The mouse pancreas is a mixed exocrine and endocrine glandconsisting of three lobular compartments: the splenic, duodenal and gastric lobes. During embryogenesis, the pancreas forms from two progenitor populations located on the dorsal and ventral side of the primitive gut tube. LÄS MER
