1. Hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells and potentials for application in fetal cell replacement therapy
Sammanfattning : Fetal cell replacement therapy or in utero hematopoietic cell transplantation (IUHCT) is proposed as a non-myeloablative alternative to bone marrow transplantation (BMT) for a number of inborn immunologic, hematologic and metabolic disorders. IUHCT represents the method through which variable amounts of natural or genetically modified hematopoietic cells can be transferred to the fetal recipient in hope of correcting the disorder and preventing postnatal permanent organ damage. 2. Arterial Injury due to Infections in Early Life-A Possible Link in Coronary Heart Disease (Functional and Structural Studies in Animals and Children)
Sammanfattning : Although the clinical manifestations of atherosclerotic CHD occur in adult life, the preclinical phase begins long before, seemingly already in childhood. There is supportive evidence from both epidemiological studies and animal experiments that infections could contribute to the pathogenesis of arterial disease, including atherosclerosis. LÄS MER
3. Focal atrial tachycardia : Insights concerning the arrhythmogenic substrate based on analysis of intracardiac electrograms and inflammatory markers
Sammanfattning : Background: Focal atrial tachycardias are tachycardias characterized by a radial spread of activation from a discrete area of the atrial myocardium. They account for 10-15% of supraventricular tachycardias and are generally poorly responsive to pharmacological treatment. The pathophysiologic substrate of these arrhythmias remains poorly understood. LÄS MER
4. Young children with atrial septal defect
Sammanfattning : Background: Secundum atrial septal defect (ASD II), situated within the fossa ovalis, is the third most common congenital heart defect and even more common among preterm children. Spontaneous closure usually occurs during the first year of life. Most children with an ASD II remain asymptomatic during early childhood. LÄS MER
5. Factors Affecting Coronary Flow in Children
Sammanfattning : Factors Affecting Coronary Flow in Children Elhadi H. Aburawi, MD, MSc, FRCPI, FRCPCH Division of Paediatric Cardiology, Department of Paediatrics, Lund University, Sweden Abstract Background: A number of inborn and exogenous factors influence the flow and function of the coronary arteries with possible consequences on the cardiovascular risk.
