  1. 1. Assessing cognitive spare capacity as a measure of listening effort using the Auditory Inference Span Test

    Författare :Niklas Rönnberg; Stefan Stenfelt; Mary Rudner; Thomas Lunner; Larry Humes; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Listening effort; Cognitive spare capacity; Speech-in-noise; Cognition; Working memory; Updating; Hearing impairment;

    Sammanfattning : Hearing loss has a negative effect on the daily life of 10-15% of the world’s population. One of the most common ways to treat a hearing loss is to fit hearing aids which increases audibility by providing amplification. Hearing aids thus improve speech reception in quiet, but listening in noise is nevertheless often difficult and stressful. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The development of the Situated Phoneme (SiP) test : A Swedish test of phonemic discrimination in noise for adultpeople with hearing loss

    Författare :Erik Witte; Elina Mäki-Torkko; Susanne Köbler; Jonas Ekeroot; Karolina Smeds; Thomas Brand; Örebro universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : In the current thesis, a Swedish phoneme-level speech-audiometric test in natural background noise was developed. The test is called the Situated Phoneme (SiP) test. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Drum sound from floor coverings - objective and subjective assessment

    Författare :Ann-Charlotte Johansson; Teknisk akustik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; vakuumteknik; vibrationer; akustik; hydraulik; Maskinteknik; vacuum technology; vibration and acoustic engineering; hydraulics; acoustic standard; Mechanical engineering; tapping machine; veneer flooring; parquet flooring; binaural recording; foot impact; loudness; sound quality; listening test; paired comparisons; walking sound; drum sound; building acoustics; psychoacoustics; laminate flooring;

    Sammanfattning : Drum sound is the sound produced when an object, such as a foot, hits the flooring in the room in which the receiving ear is located. Drum sound has attracted interest in recent years, particularly due to an increased use of thin floating floor constructions, such as veneer or laminate flooring, which can produce loud and sharp walking sound. 4. 4. Investigating and Validating Spoken Interactional Competence: Rater Perspectives on a Swedish National Test of English

    Författare :Linda Borger; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; interactional competence; Swedish national test of English; paired speaking test; Common European Framework of Reference for Languages CEFR ; socio-cognitive validation framework;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis aims to explore different aspects of validity evidence from the raters’ perspective in relation to a paired speaking test, part of a high-stakes national test of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in the Swedish upper secondary school. Three empirical studies were undertaken with the purpose of highlighting (1) the scoring process, (2) the construct underlying the test format, and (3) the setting and test administration. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Communication acoustics in classroom environments : on the use of assistive listening devices

    Författare :Johan Odelius; John S. Bradley; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Teknisk akustik; Engineering Acoustics;

    Sammanfattning : Assistive listening devices (ALDs) are used in classrooms to assist communication for students with hearing loss. An ALD, a system of external microphones, transmits sound directly to the students' hearing aids. The signal is coupled to the hearing aid using a radio frequency (FM) or an induction loop (IL) system. LÄS MER
