  1. 1. Neutron emission spectroscopy of fusion plasmas with a NE213 liquid scintillator at JET

    Författare :Federico Binda; Göran Ericsson; Chernikova Dina; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NE213; neutron spectroscopy; liquid scintillator; nuclear; fusion; plasma;

    Sammanfattning : Neutron diagnostics will play a fundamental role in future fusion plasma machines,where the harsh environment will make the use of many other type of diagnos-tics practically impossible. Complex techniques to measure the neutron spectrumemitted from tokamk plasmas have been developed over the years, producing stateof the art neutron spectrometers. LÄS MER

  2. 2. High-Resolution Measurement of the 4He(g,n) Reaction in the Giant Resonance Region

    Författare :Björn Nilsson; Kärnfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; tagged photons; photonuclear reactions; liquid helium; neutron detectors; liquid scintillators; giant resonances; angular distributions; differential cross sections; total cross sections; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:2003:Nilsson;

    Sammanfattning : A comprehensive near-threshold 4He(g,n) absolute cross section measurement has been performed at the high-resolution tagged-photon facility MAX-lab located in Lund, Sweden. The 20 < Eg < 45 MeV tagged photons (covering the Giant Dipole Resonance energy region) were directed towards a liquid 4He target, and knocked-out neutrons were detected in a pair of 60 cm x 60 cm vetoed NE213A liquid scintillator arrays. 3. 3. Neutron-Induced Scintillation in Organics

    Författare :Nicholai Mauritzson; Kärnfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; liquid organic scintillator; oil; time-of-flight; neutron tagging; light yield; simulation; calibration; NE 213A; EJ 305; EJ 331; EJ 321P; Source Testing Facility; pedagogy; Fysicumarkivet A:2023:Mauritzson;

    Sammanfattning : Neutrons are widely used as probes of matter to study materials in a broad range of fields from physics, chemistry and medicine to material sciences. Any application utilizing neutrons needs to employ a well-understood and optimized neutron-detector system. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Characterisation of the Neutron Wall and of Neutron Interactions in Germanium-Detector Systems

    Författare :Joa Ljungvall; Johan Nyberg; Andres Gadea; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; High-purity Ge detectors; Liquid scintillator detectors; Neutron scattering; Digital electronics; Time-of-flight technique; Pulse-shape simulation and analysis; Monte Carlo simulations; Geant4; Gamma-ray tracking; AGATA; Neutron Wall; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : A Monte Carlo simulation of the Neutron Wall detector system has been performed using Geant4, in order to define optimum conditions for the detection and identification of multiple neutrons. Emphasis was put on studying the scattering of neutrons between different detectors, which is the main source of the apparent increase of the number of detected neutrons. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Neutron Irradiation Techniques

    Författare :Julius Scherzinger; Kärnfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; actinide Be; fast-neutrons; NE-213 liquid scintillator; He-4 scintillators; pulse-shape discrimination; Cf-252; absolute detection efficiency; neutron irradiation; Fysicumarkivet A:2016:Scherzinger;

    Sammanfattning : The He-3 “crisis” has become a fact in the last decade and large scale neutron detectors based on He-3 technologies have become unaffordable. This new He-3 reality has resulted in a major effort worldwide to develop replacement neutron-detector technologies. LÄS MER
