11. From Lab to Chip – and back : Polymer microfluidic systems for sample handling in point-of-care diagnostics
Sammanfattning : This thesis contributes to the development of Lab-on-a-Chip systems that enables reliable, rapid medical diagnostics at the point-of-care. These contributions are focused on microfluidic Lab-on-a-Chip systems for sepsis diagnosis, autonomous sample-to-answer tests, and dried blood spot sampling. LÄS MER
12. Design and analysis of solid oxide electrolysis-based systems for synthetic liquid fuels production
Sammanfattning : During the past decades, considerable attention has been dedicated to renewable energy systems. This is due to the increased awareness regarding greenhouse gas emissions as well as limits of the future availability and reliability of conventional energy and power systems. LÄS MER
13. Inductively Coupled Plasma Spectrometry for Speciation Analysis : Development and Applications
Sammanfattning : In analytical chemistry the main goal is normally to determine the identity and/or concentration of one or more species in a sample. The samples analyzed are often natural samples, containing numerous different species in a complex matrix and the choice of technique for multi-elemental detection is in general inductively coupled plasma spectrometry. 14. Experimental Investigations of Heat Transfer in a Channel with Ribs and Obstacle
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents experimental investigations of local heat transfer in a rectangular channel (aspect ratio AR = 4) with continuous transverse ribs as well as an obstacle. Liquid crystal thermography (LCT) is employed to obtain the temperature fields in the heat transfer experiments. LÄS MER
15. Sample Handling Techniques in Biological and Environmental Applications Emphasizing Biomolecular Recognition and MALDI-TOF MS
Sammanfattning : The use of restricted access media and other stationary phases for clean-up and trace enrichment of environmental samples coupled on-line to liquid chromatography using diode array detection as well as thermospray MS is described. This on-line configuration was compared with commercially available ELISAs for the determination of triazines in complex matrices, showing superior precision and accuracy with the chromatographic method.
